Born in Canada, I moved to Switzerland with my Swiss wife in 2012. I have a lifetime of experience in teaching adults in the world of sports, specifically skiing, sailing, and SCUBA diving.

I spent the past 12 years as the owner and strength/conditioning coach for my CrossFit studios in Canada and Switzerland. Now, with a new certification to teach English, I am excited to work with adults who are interested in improving their English language skills, either for work, travel or simply as a new interest.

In order to give my students the best possible experience, I have access to the market-leading English teaching platform. All students start with a free assessment to gauge their current level. I then craft completely custom lesson plans based on where my students are currently, and what their goals are.

Expérience / Qualifications

I took on my first students at the age of 16 as a ski instructor in Canada. The experience of taking someone who had never skied before, and seeing them ski confidently a few short weeks later was a feeling that I will never forget. I went on to teach skiing for several years, from the Canadian Rockies to Japan.

I wanted to continue teaching adults, although in new environments, so I took on the challenge of becoming both a qualified sailing instructor and an Open Water SCUBA instructor. This provided me with endless opportunities to refine my teaching skills both in the classroom and outside in some very beautiful and exciting settings.

Now, I can use the skills and life experience from those many adventures and apply them to my student's English learning journey.

My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
3. The "Montreal Method": Having worked for two and a half years in Quebec, I use a North American pedagogy that is very focused on encouragement, clear structure and student autonomy.
4. Summary & Objectives: We end each session with a recap of the key points so that the student knows exactly what to revise.

What makes the difference: As a philosophy student, I don't just teach authors; I teach the methodology that allows students to think for themselves about major philosophical concepts. In English, my dual nationality allows me to naturally correct speech patterns and accents.
