I am a native english speaker from the USA. I have been living in Brighton getting a masters degree in community psychology. I have studied in America and the UK and am familiar with both education systems. My goal is to help any person who wishes to improve their english language skills, both written and spoken. My schedule is flexible. We can work together to develop your skills at a pace that is right for you. Any age, background, language level, all are welcome.

Hello, my name is Amanda. I am 27 years old and I am from Los Angeles, California. I have been living in Brighton for 3 years. I recently finished a Community Psychology masters program at the University of Brighton. I am a very open person who loves all kinds of people. I am not judge-mental and respect peoples’ autonomy and right to choose. I am confident, often the first one on the dance floor and I love to have fun. My flexible approach to life and go with the flow attitude help put others at ease and allow me to meet challenges head on while maintaining a positive caring nature. I strive to help others succeed. I love to teach! I am sensitive and a good listener and have a keen ability to see multiple sides and perspectives in a given situation. I am an experienced German teacher, who taught for the last 5 years online and 1 to 1 lessons for a language centre (Brighton) The lessons are individually tailored, we will work on all 4 skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading. Lessons will be tailored around your individual language needs.
We work usually with a book from A1 - C1 and then with media (news articles and materials/videos from the internet). Lessons will be a mixture of reading texts and then answering questions or discussing the topic, listening exercises and free speaking. You also can read books (easy reader) or bring your own materials to the lessons. I teach grammar in context with texts, not independently. But students will develop in time a concept of the various elements in a sentence (pronoun, verb, preposition, adjective, noun, adverb etc) and get a clear picture of sentence structure (main and subordinate clauses and placement of verbs). Still, the main focus will be on conversation, students will immerse in the fascinating world of German words and expressions, doing role plays and practicing day to day situations. Developing not only their language skills but also their fantasy and improvisation skills.
