Interested in learning a martial art? The Seishi Teppei Jūjutsu Kai is an authentic Japanese martial system with more than 100 years of transmission outside of Japan. We are an association of likeminded individuals dedicated to the study of jūjutsu. Originally used by the samurai class when disarmed or when no weapon was available to them, jūjutsu is the progenitor art of many popular modern styles, including Jūdō and Aikidō. Unlike these modern forms, jūjutsu retains its old-world principles and strategies tailored toward battlefield combat or grievous engagements. Beyond unarmed combat, our system includes an ingrained weapon system as well as techniques that provide defense against a variety of weapon types. Our curriculum includes: 1. Throwing methods (投げ技) 2. Striking techniques (当身技) 3. Joint manipulation and dislocating methods (関節技) 4. Strangulation and choking techniques (締め技) 5. Arresting methods and pinning techniques (逮捕技, 押込技) 6. Ground combat (寝技) 7. Weapon defense and tactics (武器兵法) 8. Hanbō (half-staff) and tanbō (short/small staff) weapon arts (半棒術、単棒術) 9. A study of vital targets (急所技) 10. Resuscitation methods (活法) 11.
