Hallo allemaal,

Mijn naam is Sophie en ik ben pianist, componist en muziekproducer. Ik ben afgestudeerd aan het Conservatorium en heb meer dan 10 jaar ervaring in het geven van pianoles.

De lessen geef ik online via Zoom voor beginners vanaf 8 jaar, in het Nederlands, Engels of Russisch.

Als pianospelen nog helemaal nieuw voor je is, maken we kennis met de piano door:

- De juiste positie achter de piano
- Noten leren lezen
- Akkoorden, toonladders en intervallen
- Je eerste nummers van blad leren spelen

Als je al meer ervaring hebt, gaan we aan de slag met:

- Nummers naspelen op gehoor
- Jazz toevoegingen in akkoorden
- Nummers spelen met zowel akkoorden als bladmuziek

Ook is er in mijn lessen altijd ruimte voor improvisatie, compositie en muziekproductie.

Tijdens de kennismaking bepalen we jouw einddoel en werken we hier in de lessen in stapjes naar toe. Op basis van jouw wensen maak ik een persoonlijk lesplan voor jou, dit gebruik ik als leidraad voor de lessen. Tussendoor kan je jouw vragen altijd aan mij stellen via app/mail.

De lessen geef ik via Zoom, meer dan een (elektrische) piano/keyboard en laptop/computer heb je niet nodig. Mijn leerlingen zeggen dat door mijn uitgebreide set-up het lijkt alsof ik tijdens de les naast je zit!

Het lijkt mij heel leuk om jou te leren piano spelen, je kan mij altijd een berichtje sturen voor vragen.

Mijn naam is Sophie en ik leef voor muziek. Misschien komt het omdat toen ik met 900 gram in de couveuse lag, Mozart door de boxen galmde.

Ik ben pianist, componist en muziekproducer. Na het afronden van mijn bachelor aan het Conservatorium van Utrecht, studeerde ik af aan de interfaculteit ArtScience aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium/Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in Den Haag.

Al meer dan 10 jaar heb ik ervaring met het geven van piano, compositie, muziekproductie, field recording en DJ lessen en workshops aan kinderen, jongeren en volwassenen. Ik vind het essentieel dat muziek maken altijd als iets leuks en positiefs wordt gezien: dat je je in een totaal andere wereld kan onderdompelen als je met muziek bezig bent, dat is voor mij de basis voor muziek maken.

Le cours que je propose est doté d'un programme (que vous recevrez dans mes LIVRES DE COURS EN PDF) qui s'articule en fonction de votre profil et de vos ambitions, de vos demandes et de vos attentes.

L'âge n'est donc pas restrictif quant au programme, vous pourrez avec du travail quotidien qualitatif (et non quantitatif) observer rapidement vos progrès et ne pas sombrer dans la frustration d'une quête vers un absolu qui vous semble vain et chronophage.

Ici le plaisir de jouer de la musique est mis en avant.

Celui-ci s'accompagne bien évidemment du plaisir d'en apprendre plus en théorie et de pouvoir appliquer directement ses nouvelles connaissances sur son instrument et identifier son usage commun ou rare dans les morceaux abordés en cours.

Le solfège est vulgarisé pour être accessible à quiconque, tant pour ceux qui sont connaisseurs que pour ceux qui découvrent tout en partant du zéro absolu.
Les exercices, les chansons et les explications théoriques proposées tout au long du programme sont donc dans un ordre de difficulté progressif.

Le cours est donné avec des fiches que je fournis pour chaque information, gamme, chansons, grilles d'accords, formules de compositions, etc...
Il peut être parfois accompagné de vidéos faites pendant le cours, de vidéos tutoriels postées sur YouTube, etc...
Il y a également un soutien par mail de ma part entre les cours.

Le genre de musique que vous affectionnez le plus sera le point central du cours, bien que je sois plus particulièrement orienté en termes de musique métal / rock et de musique classique dans mon style de jeu, je suis une oreille polyvalente et qui apprécie beaucoup de choses très différentes.
L'écriture de la musique et le solfège sont aussi deux domaines dans lesquels je suis dans mon élément et qui me permettent de voyager transversalement dans les genres de musique aussi différents et variés soient-ils et de les comprendre, de les apprendre et donc d'en retransmettre leurs codes et leurs secrets.

Vous pouvez jouer sur une guitare que j'ai mise à disposition pour le cours, et vous pouvez également amener la vôtre si vous le préférez.
Le cours peut être donné pour des guitares à 7 cordes/8 cordes.

Pour en finir j'aimerais ajouter à titre plus personnel que je suis professionnel, dévoué à mon métier de musicien et d'enseignant, je suis toujours disponible pour répondre via message, mails, courtes vidéos voire même pour le cours suivant, aux élèves qui me contactent en dehors des cours pour un rappel ou un conseil sur une notion abordée en théorie ou une difficulté rencontrée dans un morceau :)

Being highly skilled in sight-reading, I have often realized how valuable and enjoyable it is to possess that “gift.” After more than ten years of teaching students of different levels and aspirations, I have observed a common thread: regardless of their goals, all were eager to improve their ability to read and interpret new, unfamiliar music.

Currently, I am developing a multifaceted approach designed to help students understand a composition at first sight. This method combines specific pattern recognition and structural score-mapping, anchored in a fundamental understanding of rhythm, pitch, and harmony, together with highly effective practice and memorization strategies personalized to each student's needs and technical challenges.

For over ten years, I have been teaching students of all ages and levels. In addition to regular lessons, I offer the opportunities to perform at the yearly class concert as well as dedicated preparation for ABRSM piano examinations.

I'm a pianist with extensive performing experience on international stages and a first-prize winner of more than 30 international piano competitions across Europe and USA. I hold a Master's degree and four Postgraduate degrees (piano and chamber music) from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.

< Apprentissage du piano n'est pas seulement une question de jouer du piano >

Avant de commencer à apprendre le piano, il est essentiel de comprendre que :

'' Ce que nous apprenons en réalité, c'est la "Musique", et pas seulement le "Piano". ''

L'objectif de l'apprentissage de n'importe quel instrument est d'acquérir la langue de la musique, ce qui nous permet d'exprimer nous-mêmes et de profiter de la musique avec d'autres. Jouer du piano permet de créer de beaux sons, mais pas nécessairement pour développer la vitesse ou la force des doigts. C'est plutôt la fonction de la gym.

< La musique, c'est comme la cuisine. >

Quand nous cuisinons, pour rendre un rôti de bœuf tendre, il est évidemment agréable d'avoir un cœur tendre, mais sans savoir comment contrôler la température, le rôti ne deviendra pas tendre simplement grâce à notre cœur tendre.

En ajoutant seulement du sel, le plat ne sera pas sucré. De même, jouer ou écrire simplement un accord de triade de do majeur ne transmettra pas un sentiment de tristesse.

Pour créer le sentiment que nous voulons, peu importe la quantité de sentiment que nous avons dans notre cœur, pour le transmettre via la musique, il doit être traduit dans le langage que le piano peut comprendre, c'est-à-dire comment nous appuyons sur les touches et les pédales. De même, lorsque nous composons, cela doit être transféré en accords, en notes que nous écrivons.

< Différence entre un public et un musicien. >

Il y a une croyance commune selon laquelle un musicien peut créer de la musique avec sentiment ou émotion. Bien que cela soit partiellement vrai, la chose la plus essentielle est de savoir "comment" créer le son qui transmet le sentiment que nous voulons, plutôt que simplement savoir "quel" sentiment nous voulons transmettre.

La compréhension du mécanisme derrière la musique est essentielle, comme en cuisine, et c'est la différence entre un public et un musicien. En tant que public, nous pouvons simplement ressentir la musique. Comme un chef qui sait comment créer une saveur spécifique à transmettre, un musicien sait comment créer le son qui peut transmettre le sentiment que nous voulons. Bien savoir quel sentiment nous voulons est formidable, mais c'est simplement la première étape. Nos émotions ne sont pas si différentes de Chopin, Beethoven, Adele ou Taylor Swift, sinon elles ne pourraient pas résonner avec nous. Mais ils savent comment créer le son qui transmet le sentiment qu'ils veulent à leur public.

< Contenu du cours >

Je considère mon cours comme une forme de "consultation musicale" car il comprend une large gamme de sujets qui sont essentiels pour un musicien professionnel. Bien que nous nous concentrions sur le jeu de piano, il y a aussi la théorie musicale, l'histoire de la musique, la construction d'instruments, l'ergonomie pour les interprètes, l'analyse des styles de compositeurs, la composition, l'arrangement, l'enregistrement, le MIDI, la musique informatique, la physique du son et bien plus encore. Pour éviter toute confusion, appelons toujours mon cours "cours de piano”.

< Durée >

Pour chaque cours, je réserverai au moins 70 minutes dans mon emploi du temps pour vous, comprenant 60 minutes de temps de cours et 10 minutes supplémentaires pour la discussion et toutes les questions que vous pourriez avoir. Cela garantit que vos cours ne sont pas pressés par l'étudiant suivant et qu'il y a suffisamment de temps pour résoudre vos problèmes de piano et de musique.

< Enregistrement >

J'encourage fortement mes élèves à enregistrer leur progression. Cela peut fournir une norme objective pour la comparaison et vous aider à analyser votre jeu précisément. Au cours de mes neuf ans d'expérience en enseignement de la musique, j'ai constaté que de nombreux élèves, y compris les avancés, jouent déjà certaines sections très bien, tandis que d'autres sections ne sont pas assez bonnes. Mais ils continuent d'essayer d'améliorer ces sections fines, sans être conscients de ces sections faibles. Sans une référence objective, il est difficile de distribuer notre effort avec précision. Cela peut conduire à des performances instables et à une pratique sans but précis qui peut facilement réduire l'enthousiasme. Enregistrer vos résultats et les comparer avec les enregistrements que vous aimez sur YouTube ou Spotify peut être un moyen efficace d'analyser votre jeu et de fixer des objectifs précis.

The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. What I want you to get from your lessons with me, is not only a huge knowledge of theorical stuff or a great technique, I would like to show you my musical world, the imagination and inner exploration that is required to understand and to love music in a whole new level. Once you have found them, it will be very hard to quit playing!

The class duration: You can choose!

I have over 12 years of teaching experience and I have been working as a Professional Pianist for 7 years now, in 8 different countries (Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, Spain, etc.) and on Luxury Cruise Ships (Worldwide).

I can show you how to have fun with the piano. If you're a beginner, I can take you right from step one and have you playing familiar songs by the 1st or 2nd lesson. If you already have some experience, I can add to it.

I've been playing and studying piano since age 6 (over 25 years ago). I began with classical music, and later added Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Chord theory.

TEACHING STYLE

I am a very patient teacher. I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality.

I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos.

I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits.

My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students for their Piano Exams, like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grades 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas).

I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old, and my youngest one is 3 years old. They made great progress, and I am sure you could do the same.

I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano.

I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation.

I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons.

CURRICULUM

I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years.

For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs.

Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible.

I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.

Piano/Keyboard - Alfred , Hal Leonard, Abrsm Grade (1-8), Trinity Grade (1-8), Hanon etc.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.
