I am a native english speaker from the USA. I have been living in Brighton getting a masters degree in community psychology. I have studied in America and the UK and am familiar with both education systems. My goal is to help any person who wishes to improve their english language skills, both written and spoken. My schedule is flexible. We can work together to develop your skills at a pace that is right for you. Any age, background, language level, all are welcome.

Hello, my name is Amanda. I am 27 years old and I am from Los Angeles, California. I have been living in Brighton for 3 years. I recently finished a Community Psychology masters program at the University of Brighton. I am a very open person who loves all kinds of people. I am not judge-mental and respect peoples’ autonomy and right to choose. I am confident, often the first one on the dance floor and I love to have fun. My flexible approach to life and go with the flow attitude help put others at ease and allow me to meet challenges head on while maintaining a positive caring nature. I strive to help others succeed. Learn to speak English like the English do. As a Dutch person, you are often quickly recognizable by your accent and incorrect use of words, expressions, etc. By speaking 'native English' you can often get something done faster, you are accepted faster and in the USA you often have an advantage if you speak 'Queen's English'.

I have been living in the UK for 25 years and in the early years I experienced how difficult it is to really get through to the English if you do not speak the language at their level. You remain a 'foreigner' and therefore an outsider.

As a Dutch person, you quickly think that you speak English well. The English that is taught in the Netherlands is outdated and is often taught by university graduates who have never spent more than a few months in an English-speaking environment, so they have never picked up the real spoken language. You don't really learn a language from a book, you have to experience it or learn it from someone who knows the finer points.

I am a professional translator, a member of the NGTV, TEFL certified and have an international business background.
