This class is designed to introduce the student to Classical Hebrew, as extant in the Hebrew Bible. The student will become acquainted with the grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of Classical Hebrew and begin to read texts. The student will only learn how to read, not speak.

This course is designed to prepare students for reading the Greek of the New Testament, along with other texts written in Koine Greek, e.g. the Septuagint, Josephus, Epictetus, etc. Students will learn grammar, syntax, and vocabulary up to the point of being able to read and analyze Greek texts with the help of a lexicon.
