When I plan an English class, I stick to the syllabus while, at the same time, incorporating my own exercises and activities to give students the opportunity to express themselves and consolidate their understanding.
I put a lot of emphasis on communication as I believe that tutoring is not just talking at the student, but rather a two-way discussion. To this end, I use activities such as debates, roleplays and simulated interviews to show students real-life, practical situations to the theory taught in class.
