I have always been involved in music for as long as I can remember. I have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and several prestigious cathedrals. I also take pride in volunteering with the Stroke Association in a singing group for Stroke survivors among many other community music groups.

Opleiding

I have studied music at GSCE gaining an A, Level 3 BTEC gaining D*D*D* and at Degree level (pending grade). I also will be undergoing a Postgraduate in this field in September 2020

I currently have 4 years of private music tuition in piano and music theory and 1 year of experience as a KS2 primary school part-time music teacher.
I have Grade 6 ABRSM in piano although I'm at a higher standard, Grade 5 Music Theory and intermediate in Saxophone and Ukulele

With 20 years of experience as a guitar teacher and as a professional musician, I like to pass on my passion for the guitar to others.
I teach at all levels; from beginners to advanced, and specialize in jazz, flamenco, classical, bossa nova, rock, funk and metal.
On the basis of the level of the student I make a program that suits them, including learning songs with chords, playing riffs, rhythm theory, speed, improvisation, specific techniques, transcription of solos.
I also teach entire bands, using control so that they can play well together.

My name is Paul and I have been actively involved with music for over 30 years.
I played in various bands during that period and gained so much stage experience and music knowledge. I use this knowledge and experience when giving lessons and I transfer them to my students. The styles in which I teach include Pop, Funk,, Blues, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Classical (reading notes) both acoustically and electrically. Because I also have a lot of singing experience, I encourage my students to sing during guitar playing. I leave this choice to the student.ong and old. For both beginners and advanced. You will be taught with the help of the most modern tools. I teach 7 string guitars (bring your own guitar)

You want to be able to express yourself with your instrument, as an extension of your body. You want to share the happiness of playing music together. With friends around the campfire or on stage with your band. You want to write songs or lose yourself in free improvisation.

I learned all of that from doing because that is how I learn. Endless jamming, joining bands, doing my own research, failing and trying again. Slowly figuring out what it means to be a musician. And thank god the learning never ends.

Now it’s time to share my experience so far with you. You who’s on the road with me, to help you on your way. As a mentor. As a friend.

The way I teach is different from every one of my students because they all have their own strengths, desires, and current obstacles. I try to observe, give key feedback points, provide relevant exercises and simply share the sheer joy of playing music. Because isn’t it just the most fulfilling thing?

The ukulele lessons are suitable for beginners. It is taught in a casual and relaxed manner, with a lot of personal attention and a good lesson structure. You will soon be able to accompany a song. You learn to play and sing chords, different beats, strumming patterns, simple melodies and some basic knowledge of music theory. We do not work with musical notation, but with tablature. That is a simple alternative. There is also a lot of room to learn what you like yourself. Be sure to bring the songs you want to learn to play.

Start with an introductory lesson to see if you like it and to discuss what you want to learn. You can borrow a ukulele if you don't already have one.

In this class where I will share my 29 year experiences, we can talk about everything you want to know about music. I have been a professional flute player since 1996. The composition and conducting training that I started in 1999 enabled me to gain experience in piano. I learned bass guitar and ukulele completely on stage. I have played instruments in many genres (rock, pop, jazz) professionally for years. I teach piano with a book I wrote myself. With this book I wrote especially for children, children learn to read notes and play the piano with solid foundations. I have prepared more than 300 students for the ABRSM flute and piano exams. We have done good work with hundreds of students over the years. You can be one of them. Also, maybe you can help me learn Dutch. We can exchange Dutch education in exchange for music education.

About Pericles

Music has been one of the centerpieces of my life yet. I am a professional guitarist and singer/songwriter, born in Athens, Greece and currently residing in Utrecht, the Netherlands. In academia, I have completed Bachelor Jazz & Pop Guitar studies in HKU Utrechts Conservatorium and studied with various teachers around the world, deepening my knowledge in music. In professional life I have performed and toured with various musicians in Europe and Asia, I have taught individual students of all levels and ages, hosted group lessons and lectured seminars of modern and folk music across Europe. I feature a variety of musical styles in my repertoire as a performer with wide live and studio experience, as well as an ability to handle plenty of string instruments, including the bass, ukulele, mandolin, greek bouzouk, as well as the fundamentals in drums, piano and percussion.

The guitar lessons are partly theory and partly practice. During the first guitar lesson I first look at the starting level. This is different for each guitar student. You can follow guitar lessons for both the acoustic guitar and the electric guitar. With electric guitar lessons, developing your own sound using guitar effects is also part of the guitar lesson.
