Xavier Lo is a London based composer and conductor. He worked alongside and collaborated with multiple artists from filmmakers to multiple singers/songwriters.

During his three years at Bangor University, he learned and developed his compositional technique and style in his compositions and became passionate of conducting many ensembles from orchestras to small chamber ensembles.

In July 2016, he graduated from Bangor University with a BMus Music degree and won a School of Music Prize for his composition, Amalgamation (Symphonic Poem in three movements for Orchestra and Electronics).

Xavier has worked under the mentorship of the award-winning composer, Gabriel Prokofiev.

The guitar is undoubtedly one of the most popular instruments of the modern age. It is so versatile and used in many genres ranging from classical music to Death Metal and even Electronic Music.

I will teach you the basics of playing the guitar, and I'll spice it up later with my experience in composition and songwriting. We will learn by example through the famous songs that shaped our understanding of the guitar. Whether you prefer singer-songwriter-style songs, or thrash metal we'll get there together.

I will teach mainly using the guitar tablature format, we can do sheet music which is generally unneeded for anything besides classical, but I will need to refresh my music sheet reading skills as I haven't had to read any in the last 10 years.

In this class, I mainly work with Ableton Live. What I teach in this class is applicable to any other program you use, so don't worry if you don't use Ableton!

Experienced teacher of Oud and oriental Arabic singing for over 11 years, I am Lebanese and currently residing in Germany. I studied for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. I taught at the Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and gave private lessons. In addition, I was conductor of the Loubnan Assalam oriental orchestra for over 5 years.

My recommendation for learning the Oud is to start with the study of notes and musical notation before tackling pieces. Although some students prefer to play songs directly, understanding the basics of musical notation allows for faster progress in the long run. With determination and hard work, significant progress can be made in a year, allowing one to play simple melodies.
