From absolute beginners to fluent conversation in Italian!
A fascinating mix of language, culture, cuisine and current affairs from Italy – with a dash of necessary grammar!

For over 30 years I have been passionately teaching individual and group lessons to people of all levels. I am Gianni, a born and raised Florentine who has been living in Delft for quite some time. Florence, the birthplace of the Italian language, is also the city of Dante Alighieri, the founder of modern Italian. No, we are not related 😉, but just as Haarlem in the Netherlands is known for its ABN pronunciation, Florentine Italian is considered the standard language. I proudly convey this authentic Italian in my lessons.

Professional experience
I am currently a teacher of Italian at the Volksuniversiteit Delft, after having previously taught for four years at the Volksuniversiteit Rotterdam. In addition to my work as a teacher, I am also a professional singer of traditional Italian folk songs. I like to integrate this passion into my lessons, because music is a powerful tool for learning a language. Well-known lyrics and melodies not only make the learning process more fun, but also more effective. I often accompany my singing with guitar, which creates an authentic Italian atmosphere.

Teaching method
For beginners, I use an accessible textbook that explains the basics of Italian step by step. During the lessons, I immediately correct mistakes in sentences or pronunciation, so that you gain more confidence in speaking. My approach is practical and interactive: every mistake is an opportunity to learn something new, whether it is a word, a grammatical rule, an anecdote or a cultural context.

In addition, we pay attention to Tuscan cuisine and culture, so that you not only learn the language, but also experience the rich Italian lifestyle. For advanced I work with more advanced texts, current topics and conversations, so that you continue to develop your language skills.

De kookles die ik wil geven aan kinderen tot en met 17 jaar oud is gericht op het ontwikkelen van culinaire vaardigheden en het aanmoedigen van gezonde eetgewoonten. De kookles kan worden georganiseerd in een professionele keuken, in een kookschool of bijvoorbeeld in een buurthuis.

Tijdens de les worden de kinderen begeleid in het bereiden van gezonde en lekkere gerechten, waarbij aandacht wordt besteed aan de juiste voedingswaarde en presentatie van de gerechten. De les kan worden opgesplitst in verschillende onderdelen, waarbij bijvoorbeeld eerst aandacht wordt besteed aan het bereiden van voorgerechten, gevolgd door het bereiden van een hoofdgerecht en tenslotte het dessert.

Om ervoor te zorgen dat de kinderen zich op hun gemak voelen en dat de kookles interactief en leuk blijft, kun je ervoor kiezen om het thema van de les aan te passen aan hun leeftijd en interesses. Bijvoorbeeld, als het een groep jonge kinderen betreft, kun je ervoor kiezen om het thema van de kookles te baseren op het maken van gezonde snacks of kindvriendelijke gerechten.
