If you have not already read the information about my class I would highly suggest to do so!
Besides that, my name is Jean and I'm a first year student at Maastricht University and study Business Engineering.
I have done private tutoring in Luxembourg for a year now and I really enjoyed it so far! My mom has been a private tutor for over 15 years now so I can really say I that I know what this job is all about. I am really passionate about teaching and seeing my students progress is just so amazing because I can really see their happiness when they finally understand something they struggled so long with.

If you are pro-active and really want to improve I will make it my mission to make you learn as much as possible! You will have to tell me about all the areas you are struggling with and, if necessary, I will give you homework which you should prepare for our next lesson together. But I can assure that if you want to make progress, you will make progress!

I can teach many different subjects. At a higher level: Mathematics, Economics and Statistics (up to first year of University), at an intermediate level: English, French, German, Latin (up to High School diploma), and at a lower level: Basically any subject (up to high school). If you need help in any other subject I can try to help you with that as well as I did not list everything that I know but I might be able to give you some tricks to make you be able to learn more efficiently or to answer you more general questions!

High School Diploma (specialization in Mathematics and Economics) in Luxembourg. My GPA in my final year was 47 of 60 (which translates to 8.0). My current GPA at University is 8.4.

Languages appeal to me a lot and I have a very academic approach to them. I hold an academic bachelor's degree in Mathematics with distinction and a master's degree in Data Science & Biostatistics with great distinction from Hasselt University. I also have a degree in acting and am a former scout leader (so I have some experience with children). I also worked as a full-time 3rd-grade math teacher for some time. I am currently a PhD candidate in statistics at Hasselt University and teach statistics in various bachelor's programs.

We'll explore the problems in a pleasant, relaxed manner, and I'll focus on guiding students through the material, rather than blindly applying it as quickly as possible. Thanks to my years of experience, I also have plenty of exercises and sample exams available.

In high school I completed math with an 8. During my studies I also followed a few courses in mathematics and passed with a good pass. Because of this my math level is now very high.

Together we can see which teaching methods you prefer.

We can meet online or in person. My availability changes often, but then we can check weekly when we both have time.

My working method:

I have over ten years of experience providing individual tutoring at home in science subjects. I always tailor the content of the tutoring sessions to the students' needs. During the first tutoring session, I focus primarily on getting to know the student and any challenges they encounter, by asking questions about their school situation and observing how they engage with the material. Then, I always focus on explaining the material and, if necessary, offering work methods or even tricks that can help the student complete assignments. By asking the right questions, I then guide the student on the path to solving the assignments, gradually building their confidence. Besides working hard, I always strive to create a relaxed atmosphere.
The most important factor for the success of tutoring is the student's motivation. This requires good cooperation between parents, child, and teacher. Therefore, I often take the time to communicate with parents about the progress of the tutoring and the student's progress.

I always prefer to provide tutoring on a regular basis (e.g. 1 lesson per week).
It is also possible to request one or two lessons as additional support for a test or exam.
For exam students, I can also, if necessary, set up an intensive exam training course over a limited number of weeks.
