Learning drums is extremely fun and satisfying! It involves the entire body and the mind, challenging in many different ways and extremely rewarding.

While it can be demanding to learn an instrument, it can be as easy as you want it to be. Our lessons can be designed to fit your personal goal. In the lessons we will play songs, study technique and reading and learn different genres of music - all while having fun!

Ik heb tijdens mijn studies hele goede maar ook vreselijke muziekleraren gehad, en geloof me, ik weet wat een verschil dat is!

Bij mij staat plezier bij het leren voorop, we zoeken samen naar de methode én de muziek die het beste bij jou past. Als je één speciaal nummer wilt leren, doen we dat ook.

Ik heb een bachelor en een master afgerond aan het conservatorium (Den Haag, Nederland) en daarna vijf jaar in de jazzscene in New York City gewerkt, waardoor ik een zeer brede ervaring heb opgedaan. Of je nu een beginner bent of je voorbereidt om naar het conservatorium te gaan, ik kan je helpen.

Lesbeschrijving:

Ik heb verschillende lesboeken die we kunnen gebruiken afhankelijk van het niveau, Wastall, Klose, Voxman, klassieke duetten, jazz duetten, Rubank, Horen, Lezen & Spelen, etc...... Bovendien kan ik voor u de liedjes schrijven die u wilt leren.
Als je specifieke wensen hebt, pas ik de les en het materiaal daarop aan. Wil je beginnen of je verder ontwikkelen in jazzmuziek en/of improvisatie, dan ben ik er zeker voor je!

Beginners:
Begin met het vinden van de klank van het instrument, waar de noten zitten binnen al die kleppen, begin met het leren lezen van muziek als je nog niet leest, en zoek gemakkelijke en leuke liedjes om te spelen om al te genieten van het instrument. Ik kan je introduceren in het begrijpen van basis harmonie en theorie concepten om beter te begrijpen binnen de muziek die je speelt.

Intermediair:
We kunnen de techniek van het instrument verbeteren, leesvaardigheid, meer precisie, snelheid, klank en timing en muzikale expressie. Het begrip van harmonie, de prachtigheid en de mogelijkheden ervan vergroten. Als je graag werkt aan improvisatie kunnen we ontdekken hoe je plezierig kunt improviseren met alle technische hulpmiddelen die je in het verleden al hebt geleerd en dat materiaal naar eigen smaak verbeteren. Als je wilt beginnen met het spelen van jazzmuziek kan ik je kennis laten maken met de eerste stappen en leuke en technisch comfortabele nummers om mee te beginnen.

Gevorderden:
Op gevorderd niveau is het heel belangrijk dat je begrijpt welke richting je op wilt en wat je vooral wilt verbeteren. Ik kan je echter helpen met het perfectioneren van klank en timing, ritme, vibrato, enz..., werken aan de nauwkeurigheid van de voordracht en die tegelijkertijd muzikaal en menselijk laten klinken. Op jazzmuziek en/of improvisatie, het vocabulaire voor improvisatie uitbreiden, de kennis van harmonie, wat je kunt doen met het materiaal dat je kent vanuit verschillende perspectieven, de precisie en het richtingsgevoel bij het fraseren van lijnen vergroten, meer jazzstandards leren, helpen bij originele composities. En natuurlijk al het betere begrip van jazzmuziek delen dat ik tijdens mijn jaren in New York City heb geleerd.

I am a professional drummer, composer, and performer based in Brussels, with an active career in jazz, improvised, and creative music across Europe.

Whether your background is rock, pop, world, indie, or anything else, we focus on what serves your music, and on what learning this instrument can become. My goal is not to tell you strictly how things should be done, but to help you find your own way of doing them. To strengthen the musician that already exists inside you, and give you the tools to grow with confidence and independence.

I offer private drum lessons focused on long term development rather than isolated sessions. My work with students is based on regular weekly lessons, helping each drummer build solid technique, musical awareness, sound, and a personal voice in the instrument.

De cursus omvat klassieke en elektrische gitaar, maar ook popgitaar en compositie, en biedt een uitgebreide opleiding die is afgestemd op de interesses van de student.

In eerste instantie wordt een niveaubepaling uitgevoerd om de technische vaardigheden, muzikale kennis en eerdere ervaring in kaart te brengen.
