My tutoring style consists of firstly assessing my student’s initial ability relative to their goals, and, from that point, working with them to both foster a conceptual understanding of the central notions behind the subject, and integrate it with the material in question in a systematic way, planning a program tailored to their needs which takes into account the time schedule available until the examination/end of tutoring period is reached. I believe a capable tutor should prop up and develop their tutee’s learning via a concept based approach, rather than in a fact/rote memorisation based approach.
