I specialize in tutoring Modern Greek for school and for those who are eager to learn about the Greek language and culture. My aim is to help and keep my students motivated and more enthusiastic about the Greek language.
The focus is to make my students able to communicate in Greek and introduce them to the Greek habits and traditions.

I teach Greek. My specialization is in Greek Modern and medieval literature. I have completed also a master programme in UK with the title Education, Policy and International Development. Through my studies i have been taught contemporary methods of learning which i use in my lessons. I have work experience as i was teaching for three years students to pass national entrance examinations. I do not base my lessons on mechanistic learning but i am trying to foster students' creativity and imagination. Teaching Greek as a foreign language is not only teaching words but a deeper understanding of the culture. Hence, in my lessons i do not provide only material for grammar and vocabulary but i teach my students the Greek culture through songs, myths and literature.

I understand how many students think and why they get stuck, while teachers often struggle with this.
I can therefore convey complex material in a personal way, using examples, visualizations, comparisons, etc.

I often hear after an explanation:
- Oooooh, now I get it!
- Why doesn't the teacher just say this?
- That actually makes sense, yes...

My way of teaching is purely aimed at helping with things that are difficult or unclear.
We sit down and I ask, "What do you need to know for the test?" Then I'm assigned a few theory blocks, and we quickly figure out where things are going wrong, and I make sure it's clear.

A lesson usually lasts until all the material is understood. If that's too much, we usually stop after 1 or 1.5 hours, or when we run out of energy.

As a five-year-old child, I already knew that I wanted to become a 'Biologist'. I acquired knowledge of wild plants, shells, and fossils at a young age through my father, a primary school teacher.
After working for several years as a microbiology analyst in a hospital laboratory, I went on to study Biology in Leiden. After my studies, I worked as a scientific researcher for 10 years at various universities in England and America. I also worked as a researcher at the Natural History Museum in London.

I returned to the Netherlands at the end of 2017. Through my studies, my work as a scientific researcher, and as a medical analyst, I have developed broad subject-specific knowledge. I would like to use my knowledge and enthusiasm for Biology to help high school students and university students through tutoring, exam preparation, and thesis supervision.

Furthermore, I am a great nature lover; I lead nature excursions and am a public guide at the Natural History Museum in Rotterdam.

Giving tutoring lessons has helped me enormously to provide tailored guidance to pupils and students. I adapt to the wishes of the pupils or students and can illustrate theory with practical examples (daily life, nature, laboratory, research).

Possibilities:

- Biology tutoring (mostly online, sometimes on location) for VMBO, HAVO, VWO, MBO, and HBO; lower, upper, or exam year.
- Thesis supervision or help with internship report (microbiology, laboratory, biology), also in English
Long-term tutoring is possible, but also 1 or 2 lessons (as preparation for a test or exam, for example).

J'aide en cas de difficulté pour suivre les cours, en cas de problème dans la manière d'étudier ou autre.
Un cours est fait d'exercices, d'explication d'un cours donné par le professeur et non compris par l'élève. Si nécessaire et si l'emploi du temps le permet, il peu également y avoir des petits devoir ou un programme d'étude.
