I am a friendly, communicative, dynamic, organized person who listens to my students. Passionate about the language, culture, and history of England since my teenage years, I have been teaching English for 10 years. I have worked in 3 schools as a teacher with children between 2 and 13 years old and I give private lessons to children and teenagers between 3 and 17 years old. I specialise in tutoring English for European Union professional exams (e.g., AST - AD promotion exams and 'retour' interpretation exams), for other exams (SAT, GMAT, GRE, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS. TOEFL), for thesis submission, and for other professional work, particularly English for auditors, legal, financial and ambassadorial advisors, business people, project managers, salespeople, physicians, scientists, and academic students.

All courses are individually tailored to the student's needs and students are invited to supply their own materials from work. Courses usually focus on passing an exam or on achieving a sense being able to work comfortably in English with native or non-native English speakers.

Je m'appelle Serdane et je propose des cours d'anglais aux élèves du secondaire et aux adultes qui éprouvent des difficultés à développer une méthode de travail qui leur convient. Extravertie et pétillante... et surtout, pleine d'humour !

Je crois que l'apprentissage des langues repose avant tout sur le développement d'une méthode d'apprentissage adaptée. Certains apprennent les langues de manière intuitive en se lançant dans des conversations. D'autres ont, au contraire, besoin d'une exposition rigoureuse aux concepts grammaticaux avant de se lancer dans des conversations. Il y a autant de façons d'apprendre qu'il y a d'élèves... C'est pourquoi j'adapte mes cours aux besoins de chacun, et surtout, j'essaie d'aider chaque élève à découvrir ce qui fonctionne pour lui, afin qu'il puisse continuer à progresser de manière autonome.

Je produis l'entièreté de mon matériel de cours pour chaque élève. Il ne vous est donc pas nécessaire d'acheter un livre d'apprentissage. Cependant, si vous travaillez déjà sur base d'un livre, il m'est tout à fait possible de m'y adapter.

J'adresse mes cours aux néerlandophones qui souhaitent apprendre le français, qui ont des difficultés avec cela à l'école, ou qui souhaitent simplement affiner leurs compétences en conversation.
Le français est ma langue maternelle et j'ai étudié le latin et le grec, ce qui m'a permis de mieux comprendre la grammaire et la langue française.

De langue maternelle française, j'ai suivi une scolarité néerlandaise jusqu'à mon master que j'ai terminé en français. Je suis donc un parfait bilingue.

Le premier objectif est d'apprendre/réviser les bases du français avec l'élève, la grammaire, et un vocabulaire précis.
En fonction des objectifs fixés par l'étudiant, je peux préparer des leçons/matériels adaptés aux cours.

J'aime utiliser différentes méthodes pour enseigner le français aux étudiants. Cela peut être à travers des chansons, du théâtre, des jeux de rôle ou des vidéos. J'utilise aussi très souvent des situations proches de l'expérience de l'élève, comme décrire des endroits où il a été ou parler de ce qu'il a vécu. En même temps, j'enseigne les règles de grammaire à l'élève. Je vis maintenant dans des régions où le français est parlé depuis plus de 30 ans. Parce que j'ai moi-même appris le français ( et j’apprends encore d'autres langues), je peux facilement me mettre à la place d'un étudiant. Je peux enseigner en français, néerlandais, anglais, allemand et russe.

Hi there! I'm Lynn, a languages and all culture-related enthusiast with a particularly keen interest in singing, storytelling and transdisciplinary art. Which in turn led me to be a freshly graduated Master-student in Performing Arts, with a Bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Letters where I primarily studied English as well as Russian linguistics and literature, along with a Dutch minor.

These university years gave me the opportunity amongst others to learn more in-depth about the subjects I was most passionate about during my Art Humanities, i.e. performance studies, philosophy, art - and cultural history, as well as literary/critical analysis of various different artforms.

Brought up bilingual (French-Dutch) from earliest infancy, I very early came to realise the many possibilities and encounters this opened up, which encouraged me to continue down this path of language learning and intercultural communication. At first, I was incredibly fortunate to benefit from the work of a truly invested and passionate English teacher during the scope of my humanities and to acknowledge all of the difference that it makes when learning a foreign language. Subsequently, prior to my studies I got the chance to travel to Ireland for a year during which I mainly worked as an au pair. This not only took my English to the next level, but also sharpened my childcare skills and pedagogical abilities.

Now that I've completed my studies and am opening up a new chapter of my working-life, I'm very excited to put all of this baggage to work along with you!
I wholeheartedly believe in the power of play and sharing fun, artistic and/or meaningful activities which help put things into practice in order to learn a new language in a lively, profound and sustainable way.

Mijn naam is Guy en ik ben een Brit/Belgische inwoner die momenteel in de buurt van Mérode in Etterbeek, Brussel, woont.
Ik kan lessen voor beginners, halfgevorderden en gevorderden verzorgen, conversatielessen en ik kan studenten helpen met het behalen van hun Engelse taalexamens. Ik doe het graag online, bij u of bij mij thuis. Het is nooit te vroeg of te laat om Engels te leren of je vaardigheden te verbeteren. Daarom ben ik beschikbaar voor alle leeftijden.
Vanaf 25 februari 2025 ben ik beschikbaar om les te geven aan u of uw kinderen.
Ik heb eerder Engels gegeven aan Italiaanse en Belgische kinderen (van 7 tot 12 jaar), waardoor hun schrijf- en spreekvaardigheden op school enorm zijn verbeterd. Sommigen waren absolute beginners, anderen hadden moeite met de uitspraak en waren altijd dankbaar voor de hulp die ik ze gaf.
Een beetje over mezelf: ik ben 31 jaar oud, tweetalig (Engels en Frans), spreek Italiaans, een beetje Nederlands en ik studeer momenteel Sloveens aan de ULB in Brussel. Ik speel ook een beetje saxofoon!

This language class is for anybody that would like to improve his language skills in Dutch from a native speaker that has completed his whole education in this language and socializes with other native speakers.
