Hello! My name is Michail, I am 33 years old, I am Greek, but I have spent eight years in the US for my studies! I pursued degrees in piano performance at the bachelor and master levels at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. I have just moved to the Netherlands in order to pursue further studies and I am living in Utrecht!
During my almost eight years in the United States, I was fortunate to teach students of several ages. I realized that my love for piano and music overall knows no boundaries when it comes to age! I love teaching younger children as much as I love teaching university students or adults that enjoy learning the piano! Lately, I am experimenting with the use of improvisation in my lessons as a tool to promote the constructive use of imagination and creativity. It proves that all ages can benefit from it!
I have taught group piano classes as an instructor at Ithaca College (during my graduate school years), as well as private piano lessons for four years. I have also taught for more than five years both younger students and university students. I enjoy both group piano classes and private lessons, but I always cherish the special relationship that forms between student and teacher after a long period of private piano lessons.
I have given theory lessons to several students on the side, either to help them sharpen their theory skills for our piano lessons or prepare them for an entry test. Theory lessons always go hand to hand with private lessons, especially for the beginners!
I am looking forward to sharing my passion for music and the piano with all the new people I will meet here ;)
