Hello, I’m Ülkü, a professional musician and educator based in Rotterdam. With a background in opera, piano, and trombone, I have dedicated my career to both performance and teaching. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Bilkent University, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts (Opera-Singing), and a Master’s degree from Başkent University State Conservatory, where my thesis, Orientalism in The Opera of W.A. Mozart’s Abduction From The Seraglio, was published in both Turkish and English by Paradigma Akademi.
Throughout my career, I have worked with students of all ages and levels, teaching choir, music theory, Orff, piano, and voice at Bilkent University’s Early Music Education and Adult Programs. In addition to my teaching experience, I am the producer of The Horai Podcast, where I explore various aspects of music and culture. My approach to teaching is highly personalized, focusing on technical development, musicality, and the joy of making music.

Hey there,

First of all, let me just say that I love music. Like, seriously love it. And there's nothing that brings me more joy than sharing that love with others. That's why I've spent the last decade of my life teaching music theory, performance, and technique to students of all ages and levels.

I, Kaori, have been active in the musical sector as a driven entrepreneur since 2016. At the age of three I started playing the piano, when I was 16 I composed my first piano song, and at the age of 18 I started to conduct small ensembles and create my own multidisciplinary to create projects with a mix of music, theater and other arts. By sharing my love for music, I ensure that the message gets across to the musicians, regardless of their level. My name is Juan, I am a Spanish born flutist that works internationally, and nowadays I'm based in Rotterdam. I have already finished two Master degrees and a Bachelor with some of the worlds best professors and institutions: Robert Winn in the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Germany), and Jacques Zoon in Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía (Madrid).

Music is Play! and everyone is it's own game.
Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:)

I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now!
Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation.
Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works.
This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry.
Music is very powerful!

PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques.

It's also not important if you cannot read music, I can help you with that as well. If you are already a singer, we will work in order to refine your technique.

Voice, breathing, and posture are connected and fundamental for a healthy technique so we will also work on that while we focus on your voice.
