I am a qualified English teacher who is from England. I moved to Rotterdam around five years ago and English is my native language. I teach children daily at an International School and I have many years of experience as a class teacher and various other roles in Education. I have taught a wide variety of pupils, mainly of Primary age range, including native English speakers and students where English is their second language.

Whether you are a true beginner, intermediate, or advanced English speaker, I am pleased to help!

I understand that learning a new language can often be challenging, but I will happily tailor lessons to maximise potential and suit each individual's needs. My classes start with assessing what you already know and then focus on what you would like to learn.

I am happy to deliver lessons 1 to 1 from my home, and I also have content online using conference calls and interactive tools.

A typical lesson will always focus on your needs, and where possible, I try to focus on learning around a range of topics and interesting and creative tasks. In support of my vocal delivery, I like to use various interactive materials to build confidence and support your learning. During my lessons, I will provide many opportunities to focus on comprehension tasks, verbal discussions, and conversation skills. Reading and responding skills build on crucial vocabulary skills for more confidence and refine your skills.

I am also happy to set homework tasks that will help support further learning at home, which you can do at your speed. All homework tasks will focus on a range of written worksheets, online activities, apps, or other technology.

A qualified language coach with 25 years of experience offers intensive Dutch lessons in a small class or online.

I give many Dutch NT2 lessons to expats and in preparation for an integration exam.
Specialized in guiding for the State Exam I and II. Special exam coach.

In January 2025 I will also start with groups again. We have a great classroom in the center of Rotterdam, near metro station Beurs, lessons with small homogeneous groups (little difference in level).

We mainly go for quality and not just running a lesson. I am really involved in the progress of the student. In addition to teaching, I want to do everything to really motivate students to take the next step. That is my strength!

You can also choose the online lesson package with Whereby, Teams or Zoom in a comfortable way. Online classes are one-on-one or maximum one-on-two, for better results.

My English is fluent, as well as Portuguese and Spanish. I understand the difficulties of overcoming barriers for Latin languages and for expats in general, as I have also been an expat.

Online lessons last 75 minutes once a week for 10 weeks to reach a higher level.

This is the normal speed. Including exam training (A-2 or Staatsexamen) and exam at the end.

Intensive training ? That can also be done in five to ten full days, I am used to giving these very intensive trainings to CEOs or managers who want it faster and more intensive ... all lessons within 3 or 4 weeks. Based on the European system A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2 and C-1

As soon as students want to further improve their knowledge of Dutch, I always advise and coach them to take the State Exam I or II, the only formal Certificate in this country, recognized by employers and universities.

I will try to switch to conversation after a few lessons, to put your knowledge into practice as soon as possible. Don't get too caught up in the grammar.

Teaching is my ultimate passion and even after 25 years it feels like the first time and students always feel inspired to overcome the obstacles.

I also teach you about Dutch social culture, which is intertwined in the course and is strongly related to the language.
