I am a recent graduate from the University of Sheffield with a master’s degree and a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Political Science and Sociology from Christ University, Bangalore.
Being a student of Archaeology has given me a holistic understanding of natural landscape and humanity’s historical connection with it, while my undergraduate degree in Economics has equipped me with an essential grasp of the fundamentals of market economies and the ability to leverage consumer preferences. Hi! My name is Joana and I am originally from Luxembourg. Growing up in Luxembourg allowed me to be fluent in our three national languages: Luxembourgish, French and German (Native Proficiency).
After graduating from high school with a specialisation in modern languages and humanities, I moved to the United Kingdom to study Journalism. Living in London for over three years allowed me to perfect my written and spoken English. This class is for everyone who wants to improve his/her English and German skills. I do not specifically specialise on tutoring for specific exams (I can obviously do that as well) but I want to offer a class that is customised to the students needs. People learn best by having a positive attitude towards a subject, therefore, I see it as important to establish a positive rapport with my students and spark their interest in the English and German language.

Nowadays a good command of English is useful and often even necessary. We come in contact with the language almost everywhere, in school, on television, the internet, in conversations.

As a native German speaker I once had to learn the language as well and I know how challenging it can be. I already majored in English at school. After school, I went to a language school in the United States in order to prepare for the TOEFL language certificate. Thereafter I started a bachelor program which was held entirely in English. During my studies I learnt a lot about academic writing practices.
Often, the lessons in school focus on grammar and vocabulary failing to to convey a basic understanding of the language. Conversation and writing fall short as well.

I am offering lessons for children and teenagers. My goal is to support their learning experience in an engaging way. We will discuss what you need and how I can help you. Be it a basic introduction, grammar or conversational training. I also offer proofreading.

Lessons can also be taught via Skype.

My teaching methods vary from client to client and depend on their current language skills; writing essay type reports for school, reading and understanding the book all your friends talk about, or just to be able to have a fluent conversation, whatever the problem we can work through it together.

I immerse myself in the material that a student has difficulty with, in this case a language and/or a math problem. It is true that I am currently guiding a girl from secondary education with beginners French and German.
But the majority of my tutoring children come from groups 6, 7 and 8 of primary school.
