In this course, you will be made aware of some common pronunciation mistakes by non-native English speakers, in particular some that are prevalent among Asian speakers, and how to develop strategies to deal with these mistakes. We will also deal with English stress and intonation patterns to help you develop a typical English 'melody' in your speech. Clear pronunciation is very important for successful spoken communication. Even when a speaker’s grammar is flawless, communication may still fail due to poor pronunciation. However, it is possible to identify and set achievable targets for pronunciation, and there are many excellent self-study resources for improving pronunciation skills.
