I am a physicist, engineering Ph.D., with over ten years of experience in the space sector. I have worked on various space missions (incl. NASA, ESA) on either side of the Atlantic. Back in Brussels I founded an engineering company in the field of space radars.

In order to pursue my passion for teaching outside of academia, I am tutoring high school students in physics and mathematics. I teach to both students in remedial situation, and to gifted students who wish to prepare for university.

Since 2013, I have been maintaining a website, Hazardous Physics, where I explain the inner workings of various electromagnetic devices that I have built in a thorough yet accessible way.

* The starting point for the course will be the student's own words: his or her needs, difficulties (are they theoretical? are they in the exercises?), objectives, etc. Based on this, I will draw up the program to be followed, drawing on my own experience and on well-known methods. The course material received in class will be requested in order to target the points requiring work.

* I show the way, with as much information as necessary, but without “giving the answer”: the aim is a deep understanding of the subject, and the student's sense of pride once the exercise has been successfully completed is all the greater.

* When the context lends itself to it, small experimental devices can be used to facilitate understanding.

My name is Serdane and I offer mathematics lessons to students from first to fourth secondary who would have trouble finding a working method that suits them. Extroverted and bubbly...and above all, a lot of humor!

Everyone learns in their own way. That's why I don't have a rigid method, but I adapt to the specificities of each student. I assess their level, their strengths, any weaknesses or delays, and I develop my course accordingly. My priority: to restore the student's confidence, because math is within everyone's reach when it is well explained!

A highly experienced Franco-Belgian teacher (ook in het nederlands!) offers private lessons in mathematics (including finance), probability and statistics, as well as physics, chemistry, and biology for secondary and higher education levels. For physics, chemistry, and biology, the instruction is tailored to the secondary level, specifically up to the 5th year of secondary education in Belgium.

Whether you prefer lessons at your place, my place, or remotely, I am flexible to accommodate your needs. If necessary, I can travel to your home in Brussels, Walloon and Flemish Brabant, with a minimum duration of 2 hours per session. The lessons are designed to provide extensive practice with numerous exercises. Distance learning options are also available through platforms such as Skype, Facebook, etc. Please note that for students in France, only distance learning courses are provided.

In mathematics, I specialize in various topics and frequently provide lessons covering the entire secondary school curriculum, including math 6 and higher. These topics encompass factorization, equations of the 1st and 2nd degree (with in-depth study of parabolas), limits, derivatives, integrals, exponentials and logarithms, as well as trigonometry. Additionally, I am occasionally called upon to teach analytical geometry in space, including equations of lines and planes.

For statistics and probabilities, I provide instruction in descriptive and inferential statistics (univariate and bivariate), covering confidence intervals and hypothesis tests, applicable to secondary and higher education levels.

The classes I offer are for students in grades 1 through 6 of high school. I graduated from Sint-Jan Berchmans College in science/mathematics, and I've just finished my master's degree in energy from UCL as a civil engineer, so I've put in a lot of hours of math and science. I'm also a scout leader, hockey coach, and kitesurfing instructor! So, I'm very good with students this age and have extensive experience in pedagogy. Hope to see you soon!

As an engineer, I would like to help other students navigate the sometimes complex world of mathematics and physics. During my studies, I tutored for 6 years in secondary schools in the region of The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam and Antwerp. Mathematics is the queen of sciences, the creative art of abstract logical reasoning par excellence, with ubiquitous applications. Nevertheless, many people struggle with mathematics and find that it is frustratingly taught in schools.

I hold a Master of Mathematics (from the KU Leuven, having previously completed my Bachelor at The University of Warwick), with years of tutoring experience, and am further keen to teach mathematics to anyone at any level -- from primary school, through secondary, up till final-year undergraduate material -- in a motivated, fruitful fashion, in four different possible languages (English, Polish, Dutch, and French).
