Maths tutoring for children, all topics and focused on junior schools. High standard of maths education, fluent in several languages. Able to travel to different locations. Also good with explaining and good with children. If you are looking for extra tutoring, this is perfect.

This lesson is for students who need to pass the medical calculation test/want to practice more with medical calculations.
We practice using different units and converting them.
During the lesson, case studies are used to make a situation conceivable in the workplace.

I studied the University of Mathematics and I have an experience of over 7 years in teaching mathematics to children. I'm passionate about children's development and mathematics, hence I'm combining the two to motivate children and to explain through various methods adjusted to their way of thinking and understanding.
I also have experience with students willing to go for the Toelatingsonderzoek 21+ (Wiskunde B, HAVO) and able to get them started from the basics when needed.

Majority of my previous students were admitted and graduated universities around the world, on topics that have mathematics as a background (e.g. architecture, construction engineering).
I'm currently working for a software company, but I'm willing to dedicate the afternoons/weekends to supporting kids learn and develop.

In day to day life especally in technical related subjects you will find practical use of the Pythagoras theorem. For example a carpenter when a house is being build, who uses the 3,4,5 rules to allign doors and window 90 degees straight up.

How does this work? The carpenter prepares three beams with lenghts 3, 4 and 5 meter, or other lengths with the same ratio like 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 meter. How does he use these beams to align the door or window?

He creates a triangle with 1.5m vertical, 2 m horizontal and 2.5 meter sloped.

What do you see. The 1.5m length beam is exactly straight up, and can be used to align the door or window to the correct position.

Mathematics is a central subject for all secondary school students and also for many MBO, HBO and WO students.

With a PhD in Mathematics and years of experience in education (university lectures, thesis supervision, tutorials, high school classes, tutoring, etc.) I can provide any kind of tutoring and exam training of high quality.

I am also working as an independent board game designer. I also spend a lot of time with my wife and children aged 0 and 2.

I am an interactive teacher of 5 years experience. My way of teaching is friendly and open, but clear and direct. I use lots of materials and interactive simulations and conceptual learning where possible. My abilities in education are incredibly strong and getting better every time I tutor. Given the previous situation with Covid. Online teaching has become second nature and I am happy to help your learn online as well.

In order to teach a student effectively, it cannot simply be a matter of taking notes or going over the same material again and again. Students need time to connect concepts by approaching subjects from many angles. It takes practice and skill to make learning in a classroom interesting. I have been developing those skills over many years and continue to try and do so as I teach and learn myself!

Bovendien merk ik vaak tijdens de examentrainingen dat de theorie nog niet begrepen wordt. Vandaar dat ik elke les aanvang met theorie. Ik ga grondig door de theorie en vaak geef ik handige examentips waarmee leerlingen punten kunnen sprokkelen op de examens. Na de theorie geef ik een paar examenopgaven/oefenopgaven op die de leerlingen aanvankelijk zelf maken. Als de opgaven gemaakt zijn, bespreek ik ze met de leerlingen en is er tijd voor vragen.

Through my holistic and tailor-made tutoring for each student, I can help you not only achieve higher marks in IB or AP economics, but also (and more importantly) allow them to understand and utilize economics within the real world, a useful skill that will become more and more beneficial throughout life.

For some background, I have taken economics for 4 years at secondary school, 2 of those at the IGCSE level, and the other 2 in the International Baccalaureate. My results are as follows:

I emphasize the importance of planning and structure, and want to help students improve in that area as well. Together we can make maths less of a mystery and more logical!

I also speak and teach in Dutch, as well as English.

Every student is unique, and so is every lesson I teach. I work with each student to discover their learning style and encourage them to take an active role in their own learning process.
