Hello, my name is Zeynep!

I am a mathematician with a doctoral degree. After completing my postdoc, I am currently focused on acquiring new skills while continuing to teach.

Teaching has always been my passion throughout my academic career. I have 16 years of experience, starting with private tutoring for school children during my undergraduate studies and eventually teaching at the university level to a diverse range of students. I am capable of teaching at all levels, from elementary concepts to specialized topics.

In Turkey, I guided many high school students through their International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, helping them gain admission to highly prestigious universities in the UK, Italy, and Switzerland. Some of these students later became colleagues, pursuing academic careers themselves—a gratifying experience!

I currently work in the Netherlands with students from various backgrounds, including HAVO students who follow the Dutch curriculum, international students enrolled in the IB program, and high school or bachelor's students from around the globe, all engaging in remote learning. I am also learning Dutch and am currently at an A2 to B1 level. I teach in English while incorporating Dutch terminology to enhance clarity. My experience has shown that the language barrier can easily be overcome when it comes to math. For example, I recently helped a student improve their grade from 5.8 to an impressive 8.4 in just five months.

At the higher education level, I have taught several calculus courses (both single and multivariable) and linear algebra for students in engineering, natural sciences (biology, physics), computer science, and administrative sciences. Additionally, I have taught more theoretical courses for mathematics students, such as set theory, real analysis, linear algebra, and number theory.

My approach is customized to meet your specific needs while ensuring you fully understand the concepts, methods, and reasoning involved. Together, we will work on improving your ability to identify logical patterns and find solutions within the framework of your curriculum. I completed my bachelor's and master's degrees in Turkey, then moved to Germany to pursue my doctoral studies, and I am currently based in the Netherlands. I enjoy recognizing how my background, problem-solving skills, and eagerness to learn can contribute to new endeavors. As part of this journey, I completed my doctoral research within a multidisciplinary research training group.

I have a passion for breaking down complex, abstract problems into smaller, more manageable parts. I invite my audience to work with me to solve these problems piece by piece, encouraging them to expand their thinking. It brings me great joy to demonstrate that mathematics is more about thinking critically than just implementing algorithms. My classes focus on sharing my thought processes, challenging my audience's ideas, and providing them with intuition instead of dwelling on technicalities.

My academic background enables me to engage my students more effectively by drawing connections to the broader context and inspiring them to appreciate the beauty of mathematical thinking beyond the standard curriculum. I take the time to create an environment that stimulates interest, explains context, and prepares students intellectually for discovery.

What benefits you get from my Teaching classes:

1) I am not very strict when it comes to extra time. We can extend a bit. +10 mins is no problem. I always think that long sessions with small pauses are better so that you get a grip of the topic.

2) I can teach in group as well as alone , what suits you best. In case you are out for a break and don't want to lag behind in comparison to what is going on in school we, can have some back to back classes in short time, if that suits you.

Teaching has been a long time passion for me. I have taught already some candidates (look testimonials below) and during my colleges days I have held classes with several group of students. After moving to University I was also delivering sessions for my classmates from different parts of the world and I was in-charge of specific experiment for Bachelors and Masters students as well for a year.

About Me
I had Mathematics and Science in my School time where I scored 95/100 in Maths and 99/100 in Sciences (Indian First stage of Scientific Education) and then 95/100 again in Mathematic for exams Just before University. Due to love for machines I pursued Mechanical Engineering and then specialized in Materials Science (Physics and Chemistry of Materials). In a nutshell I am a Materials Scientist.
