My name is João and I have a Masters Degree in Pure Mathematics at the ETH Zurich. I was a phD student at the University of Oregon for 1 year, I taught Calculus and Statistics there, but for personal reasons I had to move back to Portugal. My passion is learning and teaching mathematics.

J'ai 36 ans. J'habite à Lisbonne au Portugal depuis quelque temps.
Je suis professeur de mathématiques avec un diplôme de " bachelier agrégé de l'enseignement secondaire inférieur " que j'ai obtenu en Belgique. Cela équivaut à travailler au collège en France. Je suis titulaire de ma fonction en Belgique avec quarte années consécutives dans la même école et j'ai aussi effectué quelques remplacements dans d'autres établissements.
J'ai obtenu mon BAC avec 99,5% pour de réussite en mathématiques. Ensuite, j'ai eu une septième année préparatoire "spéciale maths" avec vingt heures de maths par semaine pour de préparer mon entrée à l'université polytechnique de l'Université Libre de Bruxelles. Après cela, j'ai entrepris des études d'ingénieur en construction mais je n'en ai pas fait mon métier car j'ai préféré simplement enseigner.
A l'époque, je n'avais pas compris que j'étais attiré par les maths mais je ne regrette en rien mon expérience car j'ai fait beaucoup de mathématiques.
J'ai une passion pour les mathématiques et j'aime les transmettre aux autres. En effet, depuis que je suis adolescent, j'aime donner des cours de maths particuliers. Déjà à l'époque, tous mes amis me demandaient de les aider et j'adorais cela.
En tant qu'enseignant, je suis patient et je sais me mettre à la place de l'autre pour lui expliquer les maths. J'arrive à cerner la logique de celui qui veut apprendre et ainsi à me mettre à son niveau pour établir un transfert de connaissances. Grâce à mon expérience dans l'enseignement, j'ai acquis plusieurs approches concernant l’apprenant : le socio-constructivisme, le conditionnement et la différenciation. L'un de mes atouts est que j'aime faire le parallèle entre l'algèbre et la géométrie afin que les apprenants puissent voir les deux tableaux. Cela leur permet de faire des liens intéressants et mieux comprendre visuellement.
Selon moi, il n'y a pas de mauvais élèves mais simplement de mauvais professeurs. C'est donc à moi de m'adapter à vous et non l'inverse.
Mes devises :
- montrer que les maths sont faciles car il n'y a rien à étudier mais seulement à comprendre ;
- montrer que les maths sont comme un jeu de société car il y a simplement des règles à apprendre et à appliquer ;
- montrer que les maths ont du sens et du sens concret ;
- faire aimer les maths car elles sont simplement magnifiques et pleines de vérités.
