My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that craft and design are best learned through a balance of hands-on practice, creative exploration, and cultural understanding. I see myself not just as an instructor, but as a guide who helps learners develop both technical skills and personal expression.
• Experiential Learning – I emphasize learning by doing, allowing students to explore materials, tools, and techniques directly through workshops and guided projects.
• Individual Growth – Each learner has a unique pace and style. I adapt my teaching methods to nurture confidence, patience, and problem-solving skills.
• Cultural Context – I connect traditional crafts such as chikankari, zardosi, and kalamkari to their cultural and historical roots, helping students appreciate their deeper value.
• Creative Freedom – While I teach structure and technique, I also encourage experimentation, so learners can develop their own artistic voice.
• Reflective Practice – I motivate students to observe, analyze, and refine their work, building a foundation for both artistic and professional growth.

Acerca de mí
I am a textile designer and craft practitioner with over nine years of experience working with traditional and contemporary techniques such as chikankari, zardosi, bobbin lace, aari work, kalamkari, and handwoven carpets and rugs. My passion lies in keeping craft traditions alive while helping learners discover their own creative voice through hands-on making.
As a tutor, I focus on building both skill and confidence. I believe that craft is not just about technique, but also about patience, observation, and storytelling. My teaching approach blends design fundamentals with practical workshop experience, encouraging students to experiment, refine, and connect deeply with materials.
Whether working with beginners or advanced learners, my goal is to inspire curiosity, respect for craftsmanship, and an appreciation of the cultural value behind handmade textiles.

Experiencia / Calificaciones
I have several years of experience teaching art, craft, and design to learners of different age groups and skill levels. My background as a textile designer allows me to bring both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design practices into the classroom. I have conducted workshops, studio sessions, and one-to-one mentoring in techniques such as embroidery (chikankari, zardosi, aari work), textile surface design, hand painting (kalamkari), lace-making, and carpet/rug design.
In my teaching, I emphasize:
• Skill development through step-by-step demonstrations and guided practice.
• Creative exploration by encouraging experimentation with materials, patterns, and textures.
• Contextual learning that connects craft techniques with their cultural and design heritage.
• Student growth by fostering patience, problem-solving, and confidence in making.
My approach is adaptable — from structured modules for design students to hands-on craft workshops for beginners and enthusiasts. I aim to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where every student feels inspired to explore their creative potential.
