Über mich
I’m Víctor, a Venezuelan-born photographer based in Madrid with over ten years of professional experience across portraiture, editorial, documentary, fashion, and underground photography. My work has been published in DJ Mag, and in 2026 I held my first solo exhibition in Madrid, presenting three bodies of work developed over several years.
My formal training is extensive: I hold an Advanced Diploma and a Master’s degree in Fashion Photography from TAI and EFTI — two of Madrid’s most respected photography schools — both completed on full scholarship. I also studied at Nebrija University. Beyond the academic side, I’ve worked as a production assistant, retoucher, and photographer across commercial and editorial contexts, which means my teaching draws from real industry experience, not just theory.
I shoot both digital and analog — 35mm and medium format, self-developed and digitized — and work professionally in Capture One and Photoshop. I’m equally comfortable in the studio and on the street.
How I Teach:
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all instruction. Before anything else, I want to understand where you are, what you’re trying to say with your photography, and what’s getting in the way. From there, we build.
For beginners, I focus on building genuine understanding — not just memorizing settings, but developing the eye and the instinct that make technical knowledge useful. For more advanced students, I work as a thinking partner: questioning choices, challenging assumptions, and helping you find the logic inside your own vision.
My approach is honest and direct. I won’t tell you an image works if it doesn’t — but I’ll always explain why, and where to go from there. I believe the most useful feedback is specific, constructive, and respectful of
where you want to take your work.
Sessions can be structured around a curriculum or entirely led by your current needs and projects. Both online and in-person in Madrid, in English or Spanish.
Areas of Expertise:
Studio lighting · Editorial production · Photojournalism · Retouching (Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One) · Analog photography (35mm, medium format) · Darkroom printing & photographic papers · Alternative processes (tintype, cyanotype) · Color theory · Composition · History of photography · Portfolio development · Photobook editing

Your portfolio is the first thing a client, school, or curator sees — and you rarely get a second chance to make that impression count.
In this session, we’ll go beyond technical feedback. We’ll look at your work the way an art director, admissions committee, or potential client would: sequence, narrative, consistency of vision, and whether your strongest images are actually doing the work you think they are.
I bring ten years of professional experience across editorial, portraiture, documentary, and fashion photography, with credits in publications like DJ Mag and academic training at EFTI and TAI (Madrid). I’ve built and rebuilt my own portfolio through every stage of a photography career — so I know what separates a collection of good images from a body of work that opens doors.
This session is for you if:
• You’re applying to a photography school or master’s program
• You’re transitioning to freelance and need a portfolio that attracts clients
• You’re developing a personal project or photobook and want an honest outside eye
• You feel your work is stronger than your portfolio suggests
What you get:
• A structured, honest critique — no empty praise
• Concrete recommendations on editing, sequencing, and presentation
• Guidance on what to cut, what to develop further, and what’s ready to show
