Hello Italian learners! Do you want to improve your Italian skills? Do you want to discover more about Italy? Wanna have a deeper understanding of Italian culture, history, touristic sites, cinema, literature, and arts? Or do you simply want to focus on improving your grammar and your spoken/written Italian? This might be the right class for you! The class is focused on conversation so you need to have at least a basic understanding/knowledge of Italian. During a one-hour class we will do: - around 45 minutes of conversation: you can decide the topic, it can be simple chit-chatting, something about Italy or any specific topic you want to go through. - around 15 minutes of review. This means: check of the pronunciation, grammar, use of the words, cultural insights, etc. Once the class is over we will have an overview of the areas you need to improve. Hello everyone! I'm Giorgia and I come from Torino, Italy. I offer my native knowledge of Italian to any of you, who wants to discover this beautiful language. I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments. Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).
