Hello , I am a student at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale Lausanne in Master in Data Science. I offer mathematics, physics and programming classes for all primary and secondary school students and to prepare for the baccalaureate.

Having a Bachelor in Communication Systems from EPFL, I have solid knowledge in the subjects I teach. I will help you review your course, do your exercises, prepare for a test/exam or other, whether you are in primary school or university! I really enjoy providing help and working together to solve a problem. I have excelled everywhere for the past three years (average 5.8/6 on the Bachelor), been an assistant for several subjects at EPFL and given private lessons to students in the gymnasium. The students I have had in the past have characterized me as patient, attentive and a pedagogue. Often all it takes is a fresh eye to understand certain concepts!

Hi, my name is Valon, I'm 26 years old and I just finished my master's degree in mathematical engineering at EPFL. As a Master's student in data science, I had to learn to code in different languages during my academic career. I have experience in Python, Java, Scala, C, Assembly and SQL. I can teach algorithmic logic as well as networks. I have knowledge in security and privacy. I can teach object-oriented, system-oriented and functional programming.

This course is a good option for students who want to prepare for their first year at EPFL. No minimum duration but it is recommended to do at least 10 weeks of lessons. During my high school education in Portugal, I found myself unchallenged and unmotivated by the math curriculum. Seven years later, as a mathematician at the beginning of my academic career, I think I'm an ideal tutor for students in a similar position—interested in math but not quite finding what they need at school. I'm also available to help more advanced students (from university or beyond) who need advice and direction on university-level topics. Additionally, I'm happy to help adults who need help restarting their mathematical education or filling in gaps in their understanding. I'm interested in talking about anything mathematical, from linear inequalities to Hilbert's Nullstellensatz. I'm also familiar with computer science, both in theory and practice. I can easily take the reins and "lecture" on most topics but would prefer to steer towards whatever the student finds interesting. I strongly believe that learning math is an active, creative process.
