Russian lessons with a C2-level native English speaker from the UK. I started learning Russian from scratch when I was 15, before going on to get A* at A-Level and spending a year living and working in Moscow. I've been teaching the language privately now for several years.

I use the same challenging textbook in my lessons that I used myself to learn the language, and this gives us a clear structure and direction to follow. The focus on grammar is high in the beginning stages with Russian - there really is no getting around this if you want to speak properly - but I also try to fit plenty of conversation practise into the lessons to apply what has been learnt.

With me you'll be learning quickly and getting a great foundation in Russian in a friendly, relaxed, conversational atmosphere. I've been through this whole process myself and greatly enjoy sharing what I've learnt with others.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.

When it comes to the alphabet, words and sentences, it's more or less the same, but school pedagogy, school textbooks and regular lessons still follow the rote learning approach. In the lessons I propose, you will learn to use patterns because this is more efficient and faster.

For adults, I offer online "Free Talk" classes. These classes are very popular and are ok for any age. I currently have a group class of people aged 60s to 80s. If you want to talk about daily life, news, hobbies, traveling, etc. and enjoy speaking English, then this is a good class to do it. Usually a 1-hour class is best as it gives plenty of time.
