This class will be a combination of reading comprehension and guided discussion, with a focus on the student's pronunciation during the reading and speaking components. At the end of each class, we will review your progress and the points you need to work on.

Hello everyone, and salam alaykum to fellow Muslims! My name is Safia, I now live in Algiers, but I spent my most formative and... awkward years in the UK. In London, I slowly blossomed from wide-eyed child to gawking teenager, an elegant process I am sure a few of you know a thing or two about first-hand.
The gawking teenager is long-gone now, and has been replaced by a mature, sedate adult with many responsibilities and no sense of humour. I studied Anglophone Civilisations and Literature in university, taught English in various schools and then from home, and dabbled in everything from theatre and comics to French patisserie and ice-cream making. I have worked as a translator, proofreader and volunteer student magazine editor. I have trained in creative writing and in 2016 became a certified Cambridge English Speaking Examiner.
I now teach from home as I raise my own wide-eyed child, a baby girl who is currently working on her fourth tooth.
