Hello, my name is Ilana. I’ve just finished my A Levels at JFS, achieving an A* in Maths as well as studying Further Maths, and I’ll be going on to study Maths at Bristol University this year. I have experience tutoring and offer online lessons in Maths up to A Level, including more challenging material. I am also fluent in French and can offer French tutoring, as well as Spanish up to GCSE level. I have flexible availability and can accommodate evenings and weekends. I have lived for 7 years in a small village in Ardèche near Valence, after having spent 12 years in Berlin, where I taught French as a Foreign Language to an audience (level ranging from A1 to B2)
rich and varied (children, teenagers, adults, seniors) in different establishments (schools, colleges, high schools, companies, French Institute, popular universities, technical... Alliance française (1 year spent in Mexico)...
I now have almost 20 years of experience in this exciting profession! I use different methods, favoring French songs in class (highly recommended for learning vocabulary and good pronunciation!), but also various fun media (Games, Videos, etc.) to learn grammar and conjugation while having fun!
Since 2020, I have been teaching French to groups of various nationalities at the Cefora training center. Depending on the level, I provide literacy and conversation classes, and prepare learners for the DILF and DELF diplomas (A1, A2, B1, B2). I also offer private lessons for all ages! A la carte! I like to use different methods to teach French to students. It can be through songs, drama, role play or videos. I also very often use situations close to the student's experience, such as describing places they have been or talking about what they have experienced. At the same time, I teach the grammar rules to the student. I now live in regions where French has been spoken for over 30 years. Because I have learned French myself (and I am still learning other languages), I can easily put myself in a student's shoes. I can teach in French, Dutch, English, German and Russian.

High School Math can be confusing for students. Often there is not enough time in school to repeat the content and practice enough, for the students to gain confidence and a routine in solving mathematical problems. To the uninitiated, a grammar book seems to be written in another language because the meaning of the words is incomprehensible. In a down-to-earth way, I'll translate the grammar into familiar words. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning while having a positive mindset.

You can book a complete course with regular sessions or individual lessons to overcome a specific problem, such as pronunciation or a particular point in grammar.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.

When it comes to the alphabet, words and sentences, it's more or less the same, but school pedagogy, school textbooks and regular lessons still follow the rote learning approach. In the lessons I propose, you will learn to use patterns because this is more efficient and faster.
