Viola and Violin Lessons: Technique, Improv, and a Healthy Relationship with your InstrumentThis course is for viola and violin students from the beginner through the high school level, and any age from 5-99! My goal is for my students to foster a healthy and long-term relationship with their instrument. The course focuses on practicing and truly understanding technique, with an emphasis on listening. Weekly assignments tend to include technical exercises, scales, and classical pieces of the student's choice. Basic improvisation is also an interest of mine and, I find, a valuable experience for my string students.
I believe repertoire is largely a matter of student taste. Students of mine have learned pieces in the Suzuki books and other classical repertoire volumes, but have also learned pop and fiddle songs according to their interest.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Puget Sound, where I graduated in 2015 before moving to Vienna to study privately for three years. I am currently on hiatus from a Master of Viola Performance degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where I study with Ásdís Valdimarsdottir. I have been teaching violin intermittently since 2009.
While my musical education is classical, my performance interests are much wider. I have performed jazz and pop improv, and am currently exploring how hip hop can be implemented on the viola and violin.

Violin and Viola Lessons - Learn a new instrument or improve your skillsI'm an experienced teacher, with students of different levels/ages.
I enjoy the diversity of students and understanding of their different ways of learning and goals and for me, this is the best part of the job - to know an treat each student as a unique person that they are.
You'll be encouraged to make music from the very first day. Together with some necessary music theory, always applied to the instrument, you'll learn pieces of gradual difficulty. We make use of progressive tuition methods and you'll learn a solid technique by playing scales, bowing and fingering exercises and easy tunes to begin with. Repertoire includes etudes, playful and challenging concert pieces and from the very beginning duos to play with the teacher.

Music. Classic music, a little bit jazz, pop, and whatever you wishMy name is Alina. I am 19 years old, since 4 years old I have been making music. I have a diploma of secondary vocational education in the specialty "artist of the orchestra (ensemble), teacher of playing the instrument (viola)". At the moment I am a student of the St. N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, I study in the class of the Honored Artist of Russia, Professor Stopichev Vladimir Ivanovich. I have experience working with students of different ages, constant experience of playing solo, as part of an ensemble, orchestra. I teach musical notation, solfeggio, help with hand placement or do it. I study with violists and violinists both as the main teacher and as a tutor. I teach both "from scratch" and from any level.
