Integrated Music Theory, Ear Training, and Jazz Harmony

This class is based on the Berklee College of Music Standard, offering comprehensive training in Jazz Harmony (Harmony 1–4), Tonal Harmony (Tonal Harmony 1–2), and Ear Training (Ear Training 1–4), as well as Music Theory (ABRSM system). Lessons are designed to build a solid academic foundation while preparing students for conservatory and university applications.

Many of my students have successfully received admission and scholarships from top institutions such as Berklee College of Music, Musicians Institute, USC Thornton School of Music, Royal Academy of Music, and Johns Hopkins University. In addition to technical instruction, I provide expert guidance in portfolio preparation, audition strategies, and interview coaching.

Jawa (1996) a Syrian oud player, singer and composer.
I was born in Aleppo, and I grew up in Damascus, Syria. I started playing music at the age of eleven. I chose the Oud as my instrument because my father used to play it everyday at home when I was young. Gradually, I fell in love with it and now I feel an unlimited feeling of freedom while playing it. Graduated from Rotterdam Conservatory in 2021.

A course to learn the bouzouki or oud instrument for all age groups and for children over 7 years old.

You can learn from scratch if you have no previous experience

For students who have previous experience, we can follow up from the current student’s level.

The course curriculum varies from one student to another depending on his level of education on the instrument.

For students who have no previous experience, we start with special exercises for the right and left hand to play the instrument correctly and comfortably, in addition to learning to read the notes and solfege correctly, and then we continue and gradually increase the degree of difficulty of the exercises until you become able to play any note you want.

In Oud, we will focus on:

Musical Maqams: Deepen your understanding of Arabic Maqams and how to apply them to playing. Musical Notes: Learn to read and perform notes on the oud with skill. Pick Exercises: Improve playing techniques using a pick to develop movement between the strings. Technique Exercises: Build playing skills through various exercises to improve speed and accuracy. Oriental Songs: Learn to play the most famous oriental tunes and songs to be able to give a distinctive performance. Musical Pieces: Study traditional and contemporary oriental pieces while developing individual performance skills.

As for the piano, we will focus on:

Musical Notes: Learn to read and write notes easily while improving your musical skills. Musical Scales: Study major and minor scales and their effect on playing pieces. Chords: Learn to build different chords and how to use them in playing. Western and Eastern Pieces: Present a mix of Western and Eastern pieces that enhance your skills and develop your artistic taste. Technique Exercises: Advanced exercises to improve hand coordination and improve performance on the piano.

In guitar, we will learn:

Musical Notes: Read and write notes easily and effectively on the guitar. Chords: Study chords and how to use them in songs and pieces. Technique Exercises: Exercises to develop left and right hand speed, focusing on accuracy and transition between chords. Musical Pieces: Learn to play different pieces from a variety of styles including Eastern and Western songs.

In oriental singing, we will learn:

Vocal Techniques: Exercises to strengthen and improve the voice, with an emphasis on breathing techniques and larynx control. Oriental Performance: Learn how to perform famous oriental songs, paying attention to the tones and subtleties that characterize Arabic singing. Control of vocal pitches: Develop the ability to move between vocal pitches easily, whether in high or low melodies.
