Trauma Informed Singing: Help Heal from Trauma with the Power of the Voice
From 450.9 CNY /h
Do you want to learn how to sing within the realm of a healing modality?
My singing teaching is based in trauma informed musicianship. Through my teaching of people of all ages and experiences, and my own singing and recovery journey, I realised that musicianship and trauma recovery goes hand in hand. In collaboration with a doctor at Yale I wrote this paper which has been published in the Journal of Singing and NATS.
Within it I explain that the processes of vocal technique, breath, posture, and mindfulness, are powerful tools to facilitate the return to the body after a traumatic event,or a history of trauma. It creates an extra set of challenges for the student, however when worked through it can lead to extraordinary results. With the musical life enhancing the connection to the body, community, and something larger than ourselves, we can use music as a powerful tool for healing - and there is no more effective way to do that than by singing.
Please feel free to reach out to me for pricing, or if you have any further questions or are interested in scheduling a consultation.

About Me
Hello!
My name is Lauren, a singer from Scotland, living in London. I've been a performer for ten years and teaching for just as long.
I teach all genres, from opera to folk, and love students from the curiosity of a child to the bravery of a mature student. Teaching can be such a unique opportunity to not only grow skills and mastery, it can also enhance a pupil's enjoyment of life, self-confidence, and all aspects of their development as a child, young adult, or mature student. Seeing the aspects of music enrich other parts of a person's life is my joy. I am constantly inspired by the bravery of mature students trying something outside of their comfort zone, and young students starting a journey with the most profound of art forms.
I love preparing people for university and their arts supplement, as I know how much my life has been enriched by studying music, and sharing that joy is my life's purpose.
