Singer, pianist, music teacher. I graduated with a Bachelors and Masters in opera performance from the G. Verdi Conservatory with highest honors. I learned to sing in modern style, I performed in musical theater for almost 10 years, and obviously in the end arrived at opera. I think that the voice has no limits, and that we can learn to sing everything.
I offer individual lessons to students of all ages and levels, focusing on classical technique, and developing the voice in the direction the student wants. (lyrical, musical theater, or even modern.)
My method depends on the students level, age, and goal. Each student is different and has a unique vocal instrument and personality. I try to follow the nature of the pupil's voice and the style they prefer. I help with the repertoire, I suggest the songs / arias and I also help to read the music. I am positive and encouraging, and I want each lesson to be fun and interesting.

Singing since I was 3, I have studied many different techniques and styles. I learned to sing in modern style, I performed in musical theater for almost 10 years, and in the end, arrived at opera. I think that the voice has no limits and that we can learn to sing everything. I offer individual lessons to students of all ages and levels, focusing on classical technique, and developing the voice in the direction the student wants. (lyrical, musical theater, or even modern.) I have more than 5 years of teaching experience, with levels ranging from complete beginners to advanced students.
I am also a graduate in Piano and Pedagogy from the Conservatory of Toronto, Canada. Music is life, and I would love to share my passion with others.

My name is Matteo Schifanoia, I am a songwriter, pop and jazz singer, and vocal coach with 20 years of experience in music. I offer singing lessons for all levels. My lessons focus on developing body, muscle, and vocal awareness, which helps us perceive and consider our bodies as musical instruments.
My teaching method is the result of the synthesis of my experience as a singer and the many and diverse study paths followed. The lesson is structured in two parts: the first half devoted to vocal technique, the second half to the musical repertoire and learning the musical language (jazz or pop or other genre).

The vocal technique that I propose is a basic technique for all types of modern singing: from postural education to the care of breathing, from the use of abdominal muscles, to the emission of air to the resonance cavities. We will work on the sound, on the extension of the voice, on the high and low notes, on the passage of register, on the control, on the power and agility.
From a repertoire perspective, the lessons will be tailored to the student's needs and interests, with an emphasis on proper stage presence and posture. I can prepare students for conservatory entrance exams and all types of auditions. If the student wishes, I can also provide instruction in harmony and music reading.

My classes are different depending on your level and age.

With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs.

With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing.

For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing.

I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!
