Irregular verbs can be daunting at first. Although the best way to learn them is to use them often, memorizing is also part of the process. What are the best ways to get familiar with them?

Step 1: Look up the list. Now you have the BIG SCARY LIST at your disposal. It's somewhere there on your desktop or it's printed on your desk.

Step 2: Ask yourself why you need to know the list. The teacher said so.
Irregular verbs are verbs that are rebellious and are always misbehaving. They refuse to abide by the rules of grammar unlike their siblings.. the regular verbs which receive -ed for both Past Tense and Past Participle. You need to get used to their forms so that you understand the mythical creature with 12 heads ( Tenses). The list is here as your armour. I put my armour on.. (Unstoppable by Sia)

Short Infinitive go
Past Tense went
Past Participle gone To go (baddie)

like
liked
liked
To like (conformist)

learn
learned/ learnt (British)
learned/ learnt (British)
To learn (2-faced *inserting insult* )

Step 3: Give up at the sight of the numerous verbs and listen to Sia. Or even better play this guy's song on Youtube; it's a masterpiece: 6 hours Irregular verbs song – Learn 80 common Irregular Verbs in one song.

Step 4: Now that the whole house is cleaned and you know how to rap in five languages, you can come back to irregular verbs. On a second look, you notice that they follow patterns too. There are plenty of groups and forums that have the same concerns as you do. You can follow their tricks or come up with yours.

Gangs of Irregular Verbs:
1. Verbs that remain the same in the present, past and past participle. ( identical form)
2. Verbs that are the same in the past forms, but not the present. (2 identical forms in the past)
3. Verbs that end in -en in the past participle.

Step 5: Now that you have dissected the Big Scary List, it looks ten times smaller. You can use them in sentences and create short stories which have been proved to be more efficient mnemonics than lists.

Step 6: Have fun and enjoy learning while learning how to learn.
Step 7: Follow my example and take a break too! Cheers!

These groups of letters are usually learned together with the Romanian language alphabet.
It is necessary to differentiate between the way of writing and pronunciation of the letters that make up these groups.

CE- sky; onion; wax; pleasure
CHE- key; wrist; glasses; dummy

GI - magic; vigilant; register; rust
