Over
My academic training and seven years of experience working as a faculty member in different universities in Turkey prepare me an effective researcher and instructor at your institution. I have received my PhD in economics in 2009 from Georgetown University which is one of the most prestigious and well-known universities in United States. My doctoral dissertation examines monetary policy shocks using a DSGE model and analyzes the role of labor market institutions on inflation and wage dynamics. During my PhD study at Georgetown University, I also worked as a teaching assistant and helped students in various undergraduate and graduate courses.
Until I obtained my tenure and become an Associate Professor of Economics in October 2013, my research agenda was about Turkish banking industry. As you may also see in my CV, I published various papers in well-known journals about credit channel of monetary policy, concentration and competition, determinants of non-performing loans and profitability in Turkish banking sector. After I get my tenure, my research agenda is generally shaped by energy economics and I published various academic papers and non-academic policy reports on this issue. One of papers entitled “Energy Future of Europe and the Role of Southern Gas Corridor” was chosen as one of the well-written policy papers in United States. My position as a senior fellow at Caspian Strategy Institute, an Istanbul based think tank, significantly contributed my research portfolio during this period.
Besides my research portfolio, I also build strong educational skills during the past seven years as a faculty member in different universities. I taught various courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and obtained strong evaluations from my students. Microeconomics, Economic Policy, Financial Economics, Industrial Economics and Financial Accounting may be listed as some of the courses that I teach at the undergraduate level. At the graduate level, I generally teach finance courses including Advance Finance, Financial Management, Derivative Products, and International Economics.
With my experience, training and enthusiasm I am prepared to establish my research agenda at your valuable institution. I am looking forward to teach courses in various fields of economics and finance. I am also prepared to develop new courses that would fit in and enrich your existing curriculum.

I teach the basics of futures trading, and I bring 2 years of hands-on experience in these markets to help you learn effectively. Futures trading can seem complex at first, but I break it down into simple, practical steps so anyone can understand and start applying it.

This is a course of 5 (60 minute classes), I only teach in english.

Lesson 1: What Futures Are: I explain what a futures contract is, how it represents an agreement to buy or sell an asset at a predetermined price on a future date, and why traders use them.

Lesson 2:. Going Long and Short: You’ll understand the difference between taking a long position (expecting prices to rise) and a short position (expecting prices to fall), and how to apply these strategies in real market scenarios.

Lesson 3:Leverage and Margin: Futures allow you to control large positions with a small amount of capital. I teach how leverage works, how to calculate margin requirements, and why proper risk management is critical to avoid big losses.

Lesson 4: Risk Management: Personally the most important part: I show practical ways to protect your capital, set stop-losses, and manage trades so you can stay in the game longer while minimizing unnecessary risk.

Lesson 5:Practical Examples and Trading Mindset: Beyond theory, I provide real examples, explain chart reading basics, and guide you on how to develop a disciplined trading mindset.

I am a former tutor from Maastricht University, currently working in an industry position as a Finance & Control Consultant. Fortunately for you, I miss my teaching days quite a lot and therefore still work as a private tutor on the side! The tutoring sessions will be tailored entirely to your needs, whether these are introductionairy journal entry operations or more advanced financial statement analyses.

I have completed a Master's in Accountancy (formally Accounting and Business Information Technologies) at Maastricht University, and have taught the following courses for the AIM and Finance departments:

o Accounting and Financial Reporting (EBC1037/EBC1038)
o Finance (EBC1026)
o Managerial Finance and Accounting (EBC2615)
o Accounting (BENC2010)
o Corporate Governance (EBC2020)
*overall tutor grade: 8.8/10

I specialize in tutoring finance, economics and business economics to students and adults. In this course aim to challenge my students by having them work through increasingly complex exercises. As I am a big believer in learning by doing, I strongly focus my classes on practical exercises , and try to keep lecturing and theoretical explanations to a minimum.
