Nací en 1988 en Camagüey,Cuba. A la edad de nueve años recibí mis primeras lecciones de piano en mi ciudad natal. A la edad de catorce años comencé estudios de Oboe en el Conservatorio Provincial de Música Jose White en Camaguey. En 2016 creé mi proyecto HavanaModerno, una plataforma para las artes interdisciplinarias. Durante mis estudios, comencé a trabajar en el teatro como Diseñadora Sonora y profesora de Voz y canto. Durante mis años de estudio y formación pude crear y desarrollar varios proyectos,como curadora y productora, algunos de ellos en colaboración con el Laboratorio Nacional de Música Electroacústica en La Habana, Cuba (LNME). Uno de ellos fue el Festival Primavera en la Habana, donde puede intercambiar con compositores como German Toro-Perez, Carlos Hidalgo, Annette Vande Gorne Annette Vande Gorne y Marie-Jeanne Wyckmans,
Neil Leonard, Clemens von Reusner,Kristi Allik entre otros.

Completé mis estudios de Composición con el Prof. Juan Pinera, quien me brindó amplios conocimientos sobre el mundo de la creación musical. En mayo de 2016 concluí mis estudios con una Licenciatura en Música, en Composición. Luego de graduada, continúe trabajando en teatro y música como profesora de composición e impartiendo un Taller de Sonido para artistas visuales así como curadora y productora del proyecto HavanaModerno hasta 2021. Actualmente vivo y desarrollo mi carrera en Berlín.

Como enseno:
Mi propia formación fue interdisciplinaria. Esto me ayudó a ver el arte como una entidad conectada entre sus distintas expresiones y no separada. Esto me permitió tener una imagen más amplia en términos de época, estilo, historia, estética, filosofía y pensamiento. Por esto, empleo un enfoque similar en mis clases, donde el trabajo técnico en paralelo con el desarrollo técnico de habilidades es igualmente importante. Sin información y cultura no puede haber creación. Cualquiera que tenga algo que decir puede ser compositor, pero para esto necesita varias herramientas técnicas y de creación que le permitían abrir su mundo sonoro y ponerlo en un papel. Para proveer al estudiante de estas herramientas, serán analizadas partituras, se observan y debaten conciertos, se analizan películas, audiciones, textos, etc. También, se trabaja sobre la base del Análisis musical y la orquestación para apoyar al alumno con información técnica sobre escritura y colores musicales. El trabajo al piano se desarrolla de igual manera. Para la composición o el piano, es importante conocer los intereses del alumno para apoyarlo en ese camino de que encuentre su propio lenguaje y mundos sonoros. El profesor, aquí solo puede acompañar y ofrecer información y su experiencia.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student.

My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

Soy un artista visual nacido en Barcelona, establecido en Bélgica desde 2017. Como artista, he acumulado experiencia durante los últimos 25 años. Me gradué con una Licenciatura Académica en Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Barcelona y me gradué como Master en Artes Visuales en la Escuela de Artes Sint Lucas en Amberes.

Estoy especializado en pintura, dibujo, películas experimentales, instalaciones, lenguaje, sonido y comisariado. En otras palabras, soy un artista multidisciplinario.

Entiendo la práctica artística como una forma de entendernos a nosotros mismos y las situaciones que nos rodean. En mis clases no enseño cómo hacer arte, sino cómo decir algo a través de tu trabajo artístico. Conmigo puede trabajar de forma independiente, con un entrenador que lo desafiará con algunas tareas y le dará retroalimentación a sus inquietudes personales.

Además, aprenderá a trabajar con varios medios, preparando su propio material: pinturas, lienzos, etc.

No solo recibirá asesoramiento individual, sino que lo alentará a buscar otros artistas o tener en cuenta otras referencias relacionadas con sus inquietudes.

Encontrar, discutir y retomar soluciones juntos es el núcleo de mis clases.

Hi, my name is Jim. I'm an electronic music producer with a Master’s degree in Music from the Fontys Academy of Arts (Rockacademie) in Tilburg, Netherlands. Music has always been my way of exploring the world — through raw field recordings, synthesis, and emotional storytelling. Over the past 12 years, I’ve developed a complete, self-sufficient creative process: from concept to composition, sound design to vocal production, mixing, mastering, and live performance. I’m passionate about helping others gain those same end-to-end technical skills — so they can bring their own musical vision fully to life.

As Malvae, I’ve written, sung, recorded, produced, mixed, mastered, and performed all of my work. My music reached #17 in the Spotify Viral 50 charts in the USA, gathered millions of streams, and featured in international film productions including King of the Streets and Netflix’s Terrace House Japan. One of the most formative moments in my career was my Amazonas album project, where I traveled into the Amazon rainforest to record and manipulate natural sounds. 90% of that album was created entirely from these field recordings, reshaped through granular synthesis and advanced sound design into a cohesive sonic journey. That experience deeply shaped how I approach my music and how I teach sound design and composition.

I’ve headlined shows at iconic venues like Melkweg Amsterdam with immersive, self-built audiovisual live sets using Ableton Live, modular gear, sequencers, and Resolume for live integrated visuals. I curated my own events and performed at venues like A’dam Tower, OT301. I also teach at studios such as Wisseloord in Hilversum, guiding students through the technical and creative intersections of sound and performance.

Selected Works & Collaborations:

My EP Like Bees to a Hive began as a soundscape for fashion brand Lobomar’s collection Final Orders, Please, presented at the Amsterdam World Museum. I collaborated with South African poet Julia-Beth Harris, integrating her spoken word into a seamless, atmospheric release. From sequential Prophet 6 textures to ADX1 drum machine layers and detailed field recordings, I handled every layer, from concept through multitrack production to the final live performance in London.

My Chrysalis EP, released as a limited-edition heavyweight red vinyl, pushed that even further, combining ethereal vocals, analog grit, and unique textures to craft an emotionally rich release. I personally led every part of the project’s technical and creative execution, from arrangement and vocal production to final mixing, mastering and vinyl press preparation.

In addition to my own projects, I’ve worked as a vocal producer and mixing engineer, including on Esther Veen’s EP Before I Go, where I handled recording, complex vocal layering, creative processing, production, multivocal arrangement and final mixing to deliver a polished, high-impact sound.

Alles wordt stap voor stap uitgelegd en gaandeweg leer je noten lezen en piano leren kennen.

Kijk in het begin samen naar wat voor jou belangrijk is. Welke doelen wil je stellen en wat voelt haalbaar en comfortabel?
We stellen lange termijn doelen van bijvoorbeeld een jaar. Helemaal afgestemd op waar jij nu staat.

Muziekproductie en opnametechniek lijkt op het eerste zicht ingewikkeld, maar in onze 1-op-1 privé-lessen kunnen we de creatieve én technische tools overlopen die jij nodig hebt om je eigen creativiteit de vrije loop te laten.

Of het nu gaat om songwriting, opname technieken of beats maken, we kunnen het allemaal samen doen. Alle genres zijn welkom.
Tijdens de lessen kunnen we leren werken met verschillende programma’s, zoals Logic, Pro Tools of Ableton.
De lessen zijn voor leerlingen van alle leeftijden en niveau’s. Kennis van notenleer is niet vereist.

Zelf heb ik gitaar en muziekproductie gestudeerd op het Conservatorium in Gent en ben ik al verschillende jaren actief als professioneel muzikant. Ik heb al 12 jaar ervaring als privé-leerkracht.

Lessen gaan door in Gentbrugge dichtbij het Keizerpark.
Het exacte tijdstip van de les kunnen we samen in overleg bepalen. Allemaal zeer flexibel dus.

I am an artist and philosopher from Amsterdam currently living in Antwerp. I studied in London where I acquired a BA from Art Academy London and a BA in philosophy from St Mary's University London.

Artistic development starts by identifying your artistic interest. As artists, we don’t always know why we draw and paint the things that we do. Yet they are not random. What captivates us or draws us towards certain artworks? This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you!

Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs.

The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language.

(Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity. Let it be the starting point, venture out and discover it from various angles and ways of expressing it. But also be mindful that as we grow our interests can change and as they change, we must remain honest and respond accordingly such that our artistic language can also grow.)

My lesson style ranges from diving into music theory and analysing great music works of the past, to developing a musical concept for your compositions and working on your personal style.

I am proficient in jazz arranging and composing, classical orchestration and composition, jazz and classical theory, solfege, rhythmics, as well as working within interdisciplinary fields — combining different art forms with music.

I offer a wide range of possibilities — writing your own compositions/songs; arranging for a big band (or any other ensemble); songwriting; working with strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion.

Maybe you’ve been dreaming of playing the piano for a while now. Perhaps you played a little as a child but stopped somewhere along the way. Or maybe you simply love the sound of the piano and the black and white keys and often think: ‘I wish I could do that’.
But then these thoughts appear:
‘I don’t have enough time’
‘The music school is too far away.’
‘What if it’s too difficult for me?’
‘My work schedule doesn’t allow fixed lesson times.’
Here’s the good news: you don’t have to wait any longer. Now is the right moment to start.

As a musician and piano teacher, I understand these struggles very well. I personally had a hard time with the rigid structure of traditional music schools, and for a the longest time I didn’t know how to practise efficiently. Kom maar af met je materiaal songs/beats mijn focus is om je zo goed mogelijk te ondersteunen in waar je mee bezig bent. Wil je graag wat meer bijleren over mixen, sound designing klank synthese, compositie. Leer je graag wat meer bij over het songwritting proces. Hoe start ik met een song of wat zijn voorkomende valkuilen, I'm your guy:). Als producer heb ik al wel heel wat genres gemaakt dus ben daarin ook heel flexibel;)
