Hello, my name is Machiel, I am from the Netherlands and I live in Madrid.
I've been a drum teacher for over 35 years. I graduated with honors at Musicians Institute in Hollywood California. I have always been very active as a professional drummer on stage in my home country The Netherlands, all over Europe and other continents.
My teaching style is friendly, super patient and focused on the student. I am a well informed and know what it takes to help students on their journey to become better drummers.
I wrote two drum instruction books that I use as a lesson plan for all my students. It's been developed for over 30 years now and it proved to be a successful method for hundreds of students. The lesson material is build from the ground up and covers a wide range of essential styles and playing techniques.

Hi!

My name is Machiel. I am from the Netherlands and I live in Madrid. I’ve been teaching drums for 35 years. Drumming started as a hobby, but after my first gig I began to think about a drumming career. My drumteacher at the time pointed me at Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA and this is where I ended up studying with the greats. When I came back to the Netherlands, people were approaching me to show them what I had learned in the US.
This is how my teaching activities took off and I discovered I like passing my knowledge to others. In the meantime I have been busy playing with different bands all over The Netherlands, Europe and other continents. Now, 35 years later, I am still teaching with great enthusiasm and active playing live on stage.

I graduated with honors in 1989 at Musicians Institute in Hollywood California. I teached hundreds of students through the years and wrote two drum instruction books that I use as a guide during my lessons. The books cover a wide range of drumming fundamentals, styles and playing techniques that will help the student to improve his or her skills.

Every student is unique, deserves attention and will benefit from a one on one teacher/student situation. I had the pleasure of working with many and some of them even made it to a professional level.

Education

Graduated with honors at Musicians Institute (Percussion Institute of Technology) in Hollywood, California. Developed the knowledge, skills, awareness and self confidence essential to the pursuance of a career as a drummer and music professional.
