Private Lessons in Mathematics, Science, and Engineering

I am a university researcher and instructor with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. I am able to provide one-on-one guidance for a range of topics in mathematics (algebra, geometry, calculus, discrete math, functions and modeling), natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology), and engineering (fluid dynamics, applied programming, signal analysis, optimization).

My typical teaching strategy follows three steps:
    1) developing an understanding of the subject theory
    2) introducing real-world applications of the theory
    3) repeating exercises related fundamental concepts and applications

I am also able to help students prepare for a range of (pre) university exams.

    About Me

I am an academic researcher and university-level instructor (native English, American) with experience in teaching, instruction, exam prep, editing/proofreading and text correction for all ages and in a variety of contexts. I hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and have (co-)authored more than 15 scientific publications.

After growing up in Seattle and then heading to Michigan for my graduate studies, I unexpectedly had an opportunity to carry out the bulk of my Ph.D. work in Switzerland, during which I was able to learn French (B1-2), and after which I accepted a position as an independent researcher at KU Leuven. I have extensive knowledge of English grammar and literature, as well as experience in scientific research with a focus on medical diagnostics, biophysics, and signal processing. I am currently instructing bachelor-level practical exercise sessions in Dutch (B2) and am comfortable providing guidance in Dutch related to English.

I have no problem meeting anywhere around Brussels or Leuven, or in the adjacent regions. I am also willing to correct, edit, proofread, and ghostwrite text with weekly and/or monthly rates. My transportation costs are included.

    Education

B.Sc. in Bioengineering with Minors in Global Health and Mathematics: Univ. of Washington
M.Sc.E. in Biomedical Engineering: Univ. of Michigan
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering: Univ. of Michigan

    Experience / Qualifications

Primary school classroom teaching experience (50-100 hours, 8-9 year old students)
Bachelors-level course instruction (300+ hours, 18-22 year old students)
Graduate-level course instruction (150+ hours, 22-26 year old students)
One-on-one tutoring experience (50+ hours, 12 year old & 17 year old students)
Communicating properly in English is no longer an option but an expectation in academic and professional life. I am a native English speaker (American) with a Ph.D. and prior teaching experience in both individual and group scenarios, and my goal with this course is to help others improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities in the English language. Approaching the language with native experience, I can provide guidance related to both educational and business English and can cover broad usage including comprehension, conversation, grammar, and situational skills. I am also able to help improve general language skills (e.g. accent training) and can provide extensive help and instruction regarding SAT, GRE, MCAT, EPSO, IELTS, and TOEFL exams.

Mathematics Tutoring for Elementary and Highschool Students/ Help with Homework
I am a Mathematician with a specialization in Mathematics Education and I provide private tutoring in Mathematics for students in Primary and Secondary Education. I have graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and I am currently a Master's student in Educational Studies at KU Leuven. My goal is to adapt the teaching of Mathematics to the individual needs of the student. Every child thinks, creates, and learns differently and this is something I encourage my students to discover. I build students' self-confidence by encouraging them to take initiative and not be afraid to dare even if they are wrong. In this way, they gain confidence and stop seeing Mathematics as something unattainable. tutoring in math-physics-chemistry university / secondary level
University Management Engineer at solvay with CESS Math strong + savings. Serious and punctual these courses apply for high school students in terminal or at a lower level. But also for the pupils of Superior in high school.

    Arina
(Private) Mathematics tutoring for secondary school students
    - As for the lessons. The lessons are about mathematics of secondary education. More specifically, I will assist in the theoretical processing of mathematics as its application (the exercises). In addition, I will provide additional study material (aids, schedules, ...) if necessary. - Way of handling. I would like to have an overview in advance of the study material, the tests or tasks in which certain problems are visible, .... This way I can prepare the lessons in advance and focus on the problem. In addition, I can estimate / determine his / her level in this way. I try, in a simple way and for the student in an understandable way, to explain the course in a different way so that this is clear to the student. Afterwards I like to enjoy the results. - Why am I doing this? Math is a passion of mine and for me there is nothing more fun than sharing my passion. Unfortunately, my love for mathematics is not part of my studies and that is why I like to do this as a hobby and as an extra income. Of course I work professionally. - Experiences? I love nothing more than tutoring my fellow students about the subject matter. This is appreciated by them. Of course I also have experience in tutoring mathematics of both primary and secondary education. - Who am I? My name is Arina and I am a legal practice student. I am 22 years old and I live in a student flat in Leuven. In high school itself, I had a traumatic experience in first and second high school for mathematics. I thought it was a very interesting and cool subject, but I just couldn't understand it. During these years I had the same teacher, who did not teach me the subject matter in a, for me, the right way. After (compulsory by my parents) tutoring, my interest in mathematics increased to such an extent that I started studying economics mathematics in the following years. My love for math just won't go away...

Tutoring Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and French region of Leuven (secondary)
I am a TEW student at the KULeuven and would like to offer my services to secondary school students who could use some help outside school hours. Together with my students, I look for the right study approach to fully understand the courses and I myself try to present the subject matter in a different way so that my students gain more insight into the subject matter to be known. I myself graduated from the Sint-Albertus College in Haasrode with a diploma in science mathematics (6 hours) and I was brought up perfectly bilingual (Dutch-French).

    Lucas
Mathematics and Science for Secondary Education
Mathematics and science subjects can weigh heavily on your study career during secondary education. It is therefore important to perform well on this. This can be a challenge for many students, especially in the third grade. In my lesson I try to explain the subject matter to students based on their own course, my old course and extra exercises. The ultimate goal is that the students gain a better understanding of their course.

Mathematics (at all levels) and high-school Physics. SAT, GRE, and GMAT exam preparation.
Experienced teacher (international schools and private tutoring) with a Master's degree in Mathematics, currently doing a Master's in Statistics at KU Leuven. I adapt that lecture to the specific needs of the student based on their knowledge and grasp of the concepts. I like to develop analytical and scientific ability along with knowledge in my students, and for that, I use a combination of resources in the form of worksheets, class tasks, and past papers. Last, I believe in the strong ethic of providing feedback to the parents, so that they are aware of their child’s progress.
