Have you always dreamt of recording your own song? Do you want to take your musical ideas to the next level?

Regardless if you've never recorded your own music or if you've already experimented with Digital Audio Workstations (DAW), this course will teach you the basics of music composition and production. We will use both basic music theory and music production tricks to come up with and create your first song(s). From brainstorming song ideas on the piano or guitar, recording vocals and percussion or adding drums in the DAW, you will have complete freedom over your creativity.

Main skills taught: basics of DAWs, recording and mixing instruments and vocals, using and manipulating samples, creating drum beats and chord progressions, music theory, expressing and communicating musical ideas, complementary knowledge about music history.

Extra information

Make sure you have a laptop with a free version of Ableton of FL Studio installed! These can be found here: https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-download/ (FL Studio) ; https://www.ableton.com/fr/trial/ (Ableton Live). I can provide you with an audio interface, headphones, a microphone, an electric guitar, a midi keyboard and percussion instruments; even better if you have any of these yourself!

Would you like to record your own songs, but do not know what you need and how it works?

My name is Erik, 21 years old and I have gained a lot of experience in recent years with playing on many stages and on different study recordings. And now I hope to transfer something from that experience to new talent, or to you!
As producer of an album, a number of singles and company advertisements, I have been able to work with many musicians, plug ins and instruments and it is incredibly cool to be able to record this.
But you too can do this yourself!
In the lessons I hope to be able to bring you (depending on the knowledge you have) further into recording songs and the use of Logic Pro X software & external plugins so that you can quickly record your songs or songs for someone else.

Lessons are for beginners and average level and can be given at home, at home or via webcam. Times are in consultation and possibly not indicated times are possible. For more info and option you can always contact me.

I have worked as an audio engineer for the past 5 years and have a post-graduate degree in Sonology from Koninklijk Conservatorium. I can help and advance any student with any background in the following fields:
Music Production (use of DAWs)
Music Recording (working with different microphones)
Mixing and Mastering (training your ears and teaching the best usage of audio plugins)
Electronic Composition (using analog synthesizers, digital synthesizers, DSPs and so on)

Ableton Live is a powerful program to play, compose and improvise music with.

This course provides hands-on experience in producing, mixing, and sound design with a digital audio workstation. Students will learn the fundamentals characteristics of sound and digital audio, creative ways of composing music and an introduction to signal processing such as equalization, compression, delay, and reverb. In addition to core audio and mixing concepts, students will learn various production techniques, such as sequencing, arranging, automation, using virtual instruments (eg synths, samplers, and drum machine plugins), working with MIDI, plugin formats such as VST / Audio -Units, and mapping digital USB controllers for the studio and live performances.
