About Me

I started out my professional life as a teacher of French & English to native and non-native secondary school students in the United States and in Switzerland (1982-1987).
Thanks to my language skills, I was subsequently head-hunted and offered a position as a sales rep in the hospital infection control field in 1987. I have been a business executive since and today offer language coaching as part of my professional focus.
I like to teach French & English and tailor teaching materials and content to balance grammar, understanding and speaking the language to meet the student's level, needs and expectations.
My training and coaching method is focussed more on business professionals needing practice, or to perfect their usage skills in specific areas, but it can also suit adults looking to improve their general understanding and spoken level of French or English.
Bearing in mind that fun is a key element to learning, I adapt the content, scope of the training and length of the sessions to the interests & needs of my students.

Experience / Qualifications

-Taught French & English fresh out of university (1982-1987) in the United States and in Switzerland.
-Spent 30 years as a successful sales and marketing executive working for for Swiss, French, Danish, Finnish & US companies.
-Lived 30 years in Switzerland, 8 years in France, but also in , the UK, Germany and Denmark.
-Studied and worked across cultures, doing business and communicating on a daily basis in English, French, German & Italian.
-As a sales executive, I managed teams of up to 100 people and understand the challenges business professionals have in addressing the expectations and needs of their teams.
-Set up own consulting company in 2018, offering various business related services. These extend to teaching and coaching French & English for business and general knowledge purposes.
-As a human being, I enjoy the cultural, culinary and social advantages of communicating in several different languages.
-As a modern European, I believe we owe it to ourselves to learn at least one other EU language and to perfect those we already have!

I hold a Scientific Baccalaureate mention Very Good.
These years have allowed me to acquire methods essential to academic success that I can transmit even to younger students, methodology being the key to success. I was also able to acquire certain skills in mathematics, history, geography, French and even in languages mainly Spanish and still have the knowledge for support in scientific subjects other than mathematics. These years have also allowed me to speak with ease in order to transmit knowledge (3 oral per week in preparation that helps).

COURSES: Regarding my way of giving lessons, this year and last year I gave lessons to more than 20 high school students and a dozen college students and therefore know well the programs mainly of terminal ES and second. I have prepared many students for the French baccalaureate and other subjects. In addition, I will be inspired by my own experiences and what has worked for me while being aware of the difference of each and therefore will also do according to the child after analyzing his strengths and weaknesses. I will go over his homework with him to improve and prepare him for future exams and follow up throughout the year. the most important thing is to follow the pupil over a long period in order to be able to develop him.

Typical math courses for example:

- I start the lesson by asking the student questions to identify his main difficulties and I answer any questions he may have.

- I then suggest several standard exercises to him to then make a method sheet and identify precisely what are the steps to follow when faced with this or that type of exercise.

- Finally, I offer him more complex exercises so that he learns to cultivate his intuition in the face of a mathematical exercise.
