About Me
I have been passionate about saxophones ever since I saw and heard Lisa Simpson play on television.
So I started to learn the instrument before my hands were big enough to be able to hold it fully.

Since then, I have explored many musical universes, having a culture mainly oriented towards Jazz music and of course classical music, which I am currently studying at the Brussels Conservatory in a professional manner. I am interested in all musical styles without distinction, in order to take the best of each universe to transpose it into a music that I wish the most sincere and rich ... I work for example a lot on electronic music coupled with acoustic sounds, or French music projects with texts, through jazz fusion between two sessions of contemporary music. I try to mix my various knowledge to look for new things.

Finally, I love meeting musicians, whatever their age, their musical intentions or their level; I love to teach simply, because I teach is to share knowledge, and sharing is the very essence of music!
My course does not require any notion of music theory, because it is based on listening and practice.
However, if the student wants to deepen the theory, this is also widely possible.
Education
I graduated:

🎷 A master's degree in classical saxophone from the Koninglijk conservatorium van Brussel

✍️ A Bachelor's degree in harmony and classical writing, obtained in the same establishment.
Experience / Qualifications
I have lived a lot in very diverse formations, ranging from street groups such as Brass bands or other fanfares from the Balkans, through intimate experimental jazz trios, but also by larger orchestral groups, of instruments classical winds, Big bands, cover groups and even many contemporary quartets or children's music! ...

In short, I like diversity and I am convinced that there is a way to approach music in an absolute way, to be able to stick to all possible styles of music if we clearly identify the peculiarities and the spirit.

It is this key to universal understanding of music that I try to transmit through my lessons which, at the choice of the student of course, can switch from one style to another, from pop to classical, from rock to rock. jazz, rap to electro, ...

[ENGLISH, SEE BELOW]

A music theory course for anyone who wants to start with a solid foundation in music, or for an already advanced musician who wants to go further. This course is also perfect for an academy or conservatory student who wishes to prepare for the music theory exam.

Despite the fact that this is a so-called theoretical course, everything that is seen will first be worked on in a musical context and experienced by the student in order to be assimilated. The theoretical explanations will follow from it by itself.

On the program (student's choice)

- Ear training (knowing how to rewrite melodies with one or more voices, chords, etc.)

- Note readings in one or more keys

- Rhythm readings, polyrhythmic work

- Encryption and recognition of agreements,

- Transposition.

This musical theory lesson suits to every level, from the one who wants to learn how to read music to the one who wants to know more about chords, transposition or polyrythms. This lesson is also perfect for a student who wants to prepare an examination.

In despite the fact I called these lesson "Musical theory", it is firstly about understanding the music. And that can only be possible by ... doing music. So be aware that we will be singing, playing chords, clapping rhythms, ... My purpose is that the student understand by himself first, then the theory will come naturally.

What we can do during a lesson (student can choose):

- Ear training (Learn to catch a melody of one or several voices and write it down by ear, recognizing chords, recognizing rhythms, ...)

- Rythmical work: learn to clap different rhythms in different time signatures. Also included polyrythms.

- Key reading, in one or several keys.

- Transposition (learn how to read a flute sheet while you're playing trumpet, ..)

This applied music theory course is for any passionate musician, regardless of level.

It aims to broaden his musical knowledge and abilities by understanding music as a whole. The goal is to be able to decode and understand how a music (not only of classical style, but also pop, jazz, rock, electro, ...) was composed, and to be able to use interesting harmonies oneself. and solid in a personal composition / production.

It is made up of two main topics:

* Harmony (building chords, understanding chord diagrams, learning to Harmonize a given melody, the possibility or not of using these Harmonies in a given style, etc.).
But also understand the key, how to build a scale, how to navigate between different keys, how to transform a classic chord suite into another style?
Harmony is a course open to all and all levels, no prerequisites to have. Any passionate musician will find interest in it, that's guaranteed.

* Writing is a much more targeted course, which is already an introduction to classical composition. In this branch, we will develop the rules of classical writing (parallel fifths and octaves, false relations etc, ...) within the framework of an exercise based on a given melody or bass (in the first case it will be necessary to invent harmonization and compose a bass, in the second, it will be necessary to invent the harmonization and the melody).

This course can also be used by academy or conservatory students who wish to prepare for the writing exam, or simply to deepen their knowledge.
