I offer one-to-one Italian classes from beginner to advanced level. Depending on students' different goals, tutoring can be tailored. With a master's degree in Sinology (KULeuven, 2015), years of professional experience in the field and 6 years of experience in the Chinese Minor bachelor programme and evening courses at VUB, I'm confident that my courses offer an efficient and comprehensive path to Chinese language proficiency. This class provides tailor-made Chinese language courses for any age. By default, the course focusses on oral communication (listening and speaking skills) with a large amount of interaction. Reading and writing is available (and recommended), but optional. As a non-native speaker, I know what it is to learn Chinese at a later age. Textbooks, workbook exercises and additional character writing exercises are included in the price.

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above).
