I am Thijs (28), an experienced drummer and musician, with a wide range of musical interests. Studying jazz drums under the wings of Lander Gyselinck at the KASK/Conservatorium in Ghent. I also took master classes and lessons from/with Joey Baron (US), Kendrick Scott (US), Corey Fonville (US) and Stéphane Galland (BE). I am also active in various bands/groups. My lessons, depending on the level, focus on both the fundamental building blocks of drumming and music as a whole. These building blocks together with the student's interests form the curriculum, so that it meets the student's wishes as best as possible. I also teach music theory/music theory. Some aspects of this are also offered during drum lessons. In the end, it's you who will enjoy it the most, so that's what I'm focusing on! My course is based first on you. I like developing with you a program adapted to your facilities, your difficulties as well as your goal. Autonomy, creativity, curiosity and listening are the main 4 words for me! I can teach you drums in many styles (rock, funk, jazz, shuffle, pop, linear, world music, songs on demand) and in its many forms AND of course music theory, which can be integrated into the course if necessary, but also be the subject of a private lesson for students who wish support for their courses in an academy or at the Conservatory. Originally from Auvergne and Paris, I am currently pursuing my musical journey at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Marie Hallynck's class. I hold a Diploma in Musical Studies in cello, obtained at the Regional Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison in the Paris region. My teaching experience: private cello teacher, cello teacher within the French organization Orchester à l'Ecole, whose objective is to allow easier accessibility to classical music for children who are far from it, piano teacher , music theory teacher. Depending on the level of the student, I put in place an adapted work program, which combines non-exhaustively: 1/ learning the necessary bases in music theory in order to be able to read music, to be comfortable with a score 2/ of course, cello practice, one step after the other! 3/ initiation to improvisation 4/ initiation to singing. Hi I'm a Dutch drummer based in Brussels since 2015 and I have been teaching drums since 12 years. From September 2023 I will be teaching at the Conservatory of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
