Hello, my name is Konstantin and my big passion is JAZZ. I play mainly clarinet and tenor saxophone, but also "Alt" and I am a professional musician and music teacher in Dortmund and the surrounding area. Since about 15 years now, I have been supporting people to realize their musical goals. Whether you are a beginner without any previous knowledge or an advanced player looking for fresh input - together we will find the right path for you!

My focus is to raise your awareness of yourself and the music, so that you become your own teacher. I can show you how and what to practice to play great jazz without losing the ease or joy of the music. Ik zal transcripties maken van je favoriete muziek en laten zien hoe je die kan spelen, een degelijke techniek aanleren zodat je steeds verder kunt en theorie geven in kleine stapjes zodat je kan zien hoe het allemaal in elkaar past.

Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁
I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,...
After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw!

Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc.

Hello and welcome to my music studio! It is absolutely fabulous that you are interested in music, and I hope you have lots and lots of fun with it! However, diving into the wonders of the piano/keyboard can be a bit overwhelming... and that is where I come in!
This course is for anyone from complete beginners to advanced students, from lessons that focus completely on classical music to lessons that include or focus on the basics of jazz/pop. If you like to sing, we can also work on the basics of jazz/pop vocal, so you can learn to accompany yourself at the piano.
In our lessons, technique will be an inherent part of the training, as well as analysis, basic music theory, and efficient ways of practicing music. If that all sounds good to you, then please reach out to me and we can start ASAP!

So who am I?
In a nutshell, I am a professional pianist, vocalist, lyricist and blogger. Since 2014, I have taught in various music schools, teaching piano, ensemble, jazz vocal, and solfege.
On a more elaborate note, I obtained my Master of Arts in classical piano, summa cum laude, at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (KASK) in 2017, and studied as a Fulbrighter at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington USA during the 2019-2020 academic year.
