Hello, my name is Pia and I'm a flautist. :) I started learning the flute at the age of 8. I loved it right away, so after music school, I continued my studies at the conservatory in Maribor (Slovenia). I then studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. In 2024, I completed my bachelor's degree at the Gustav Mahler Private University in Klagenfurt. There, I earned a degree in concert performance and a degree in instrumental pedagogy. During my studies, I also completed a specialization course in early music, majoring in transverse flute. Therefore, I also offer lessons for beginners on this beautiful baroque instrument. During my studies, I had several private students with whom I explored the sounds of the flute and various genres (classical, pop, jazz, folk music, improvisation, etc.). My lessons are relaxed and communicative, full of collaborative music-making. Classes can also take place online. Beginners are just as welcome as those who want to deepen their knowledge or start playing the flute again after some time! :)

I studied piano performance (Pre-College, Bachelor’s and Master’s) at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg and graduated with honors. Since 2016 I have been increasingly focusing on my pedagogical activity. Whether you are a beginner or you’re more experienced, everybody is welcome, regardless of age. In my teaching, my main goal is to help you find joy in making music, develop a healthy, efficient technique and a deeper understanding of the way music works. I am generally very flexible/adaptive and I try to support my students in making consistent progress and reaching their own individual goals. "Piano Strings" for Cover Artistry is a special course for complete beginners and advanced piano or keyboard players, who wants to explore, play and create a unique arrangement of their favourite song. Genres: Classical music, Pop, World music. The course is progressively made of ear training, piano playing, basics of music theory, harmony, arranging, singing and performing as a summary of learned skills. Would you classify improvisation as composition or performance? Well actually it is both! When you improvise you are composing music on the spot, performing what you have made up at the same time as you have composed it. For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. The key to success is understanding chords. Once you know how chords are formed and know what notes make up a few chords you will be well on your way towards being able to improvise. We will, therefore, start by ensuring a firm knowledge of certain chords. After this we will progress to improvising a simple melody over the top of these chords. The next stage is to start using notes that are not in the chord. The process is then open ended with emphasis on developing the melody. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.
