This class will focus on reading a text or short book and working on understanding of the question to enable answering the question correctly. We will focus on inderstanding of the vocabulary in the text.
We will work on comprehension questions to elicit understanding of the text and use inference, summarising, scanning, retrieval, hypothesising and synthesising.
This lesson will develop understanding of vocabulary and help with answering comprehension questions.

I'm Shaheen from the UK and currently teaching in Shanghai in China. I have taught in Abu Dhabi and the UK. I have extensive International experience teaching non native speakers of Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Pakistani, Malaysian, Czech, Russian, French, Dutch, Swedish and many more nationalities. I am a trained TEFL teacher and have excellent knowledge of ONLINE tutoring with some excellent resources and materials to engage young and older students. I am currently teaching students and preparing for the Cambridge Exams and have knowledge of the exam process as I invigilate the exams myself too.

I will assess your learning and focus on speaking and listening skills followed by grammar, reading and writing. I will prep you for Cambridge exams or English gaps as required. We will work on pronunciation and build confidence in spoken English.
We will focus on understanding and fluency through reading and will focus on grammar gaps specifically at request or generally covering all grammar points.

We will learn using the Cambridge Young Learners resources for the Cambridge Young Learners Exams.
We will focus on the Starters exam and learn the basic skills of English using very basic alphabet and phonics and simple reading and writing.
We will work on very basic beginners level spoken English by learning to introduce ourself and then move onto more social language focusing on the correct pronunciation in British Standard English.
We will then look at recognition of letters and sounds using our Phonics knowledge and use this to recognise and read the first 100 high frequency words.
This class is ideal for very young learners who are at the beginnig stage of their English learning.

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities. I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student. In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English.

I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you.

Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure.

I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation.

I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels.

The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons.

I speak English well, and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature.
