Homeostasis is one of the topics one should be expecting in examinations like IGCSE, GCSE, WASSCE, GCE, NECO, SAT.

Osmoregulation (homeostasis)-in unicellular organism is ensured by the use of contractile vacuole. The main organs involved in homeostasis in multicellular organisms include kidney, liver, skin, ductless glands (hormones) and the brain which has the overall control of the homeostatic process in the body.
The regulation of homeostasis depends on three mechanisms:
1. Receptor 2. Control Centre 3. Effector.
The entire process continuously works to maintain homeostasis regulation.
1. Receptor: the receptor is the sensing component responsible for monitoring and responding to changes in the external or internal environment.
2. Control Centre: The control centre is also known as the integration centre. It receives and processes information from the receptor.
3. Effector: The effector responds to the commands of the control centre. It could either oppose or enhance the stimulus.

Biological systems like those of your body are constantly being pushed away from their balance points. For instance, when you exercise, your muscles increase heat production, nudging your body temperature upward. Similarly, when you drink a glass of fruit juice, your blood glucose goes up. Homeostasis depends on the ability of your body to detect and oppose these changes.
Roles of Pancreas and Liver in Homeostasis.
During a meal, the pancreas will secrete insulin and suppress glucagon, causing the liver to store glucose as glycogen.
Alternatively, when blood sugars are low, the liver can convert glycogen into glucose through a process known as glycogenolysis.
The pancreas controls the concentration of glucose in the body by producing the hormones insulin and glucagon which stimulate the liver. Insulin and glucagon are chemical hormones messengers.

Physics and chemistry are very interesting subjects, but also subjects that many people struggle with. Are you in secondary or higher education and struggling with these subjects, how to approach them, etc.? I enjoy tutoring and want to help people not only understand these subjects but also how to study correctly so they can apply their knowledge to other subjects. In addition to these two subjects, I also provide guidance for the Medical and Dental Entrance Exam, in which I already have extensive experience. I am a 1MA medical student with three years of experience in biomedical sciences at the University of Antwerp. I work patiently and try to get a good understanding of my student first so I can have a targeted approach. We discuss the problems together and solve them (plans, physics exercises, etc.). I am very enthusiastic and always try to give my full 100 percent to my student.

Hopefully I can help you with your further studies!

I completed Biology HL in IB with a 6 overall. I am now studying it at the university level and am ready to help students struggling with IB Biology SL. I am familiar with the syllabus and can help students break down complex topics into simpler concepts that are easy to digest.

We will begin with a lesson in order to get to know each other and see whether our goals align. We will discuss what exactly you need help with and make a weekly tutoring schedule. At the end of every class I expect students to let me know what they need help with next time or tell me 3 days before the next lesson at the latest. This ensures each class makes the most of our time together. At the beginning of the next lesson we will do a few practice questions to revise out previous class and continue with the next desired topic.

I am looking for students who are open to receiving constructive criticism. I promise I will approach all of our lessons with patience, kindness, motivation and support!
