Hi, I'm Gabriele. Are you searching for a Portuguese or Italian tutor?
I am a passionate Brazilian Portuguese native teacher from Rio de Janeiro, that lived 20 years in Italy and who is currently working in Portugal, with 4 years of experience in private lessons, conversations, and preparation for exams.
I have been teaching Brazilian Portuguese and Italian as a second language to students of all ages and of all levels privately, from complete beginners to advanced.
I would really like to share my passion for languages with students that want to be more confident in this beautiful language.
My teaching method is very interactive and you will do most of the talking from day one, even if you are a complete beginner. I will prepare lessons tailored to your personal learning objectives and include dynamic activities according to your level:
- grammar exercises to provide a better understanding of the Italian grammar
- videos, readings, and comprehension exercises in order to expand your vocabulary
- conversation and mini-games which will help you be more confident and fluent

Hi, I'm Gabriele. I was born in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, and been raised in Italy, Venice. I'm strongly passionate about learning new languages, and I think that teaching is a form of learning itself. At the moment I'm improving my English skills and learning French. I already have a C1 level in Spanish and native knowledge of Italian and Portuguese.

I studied for three years in Information Engineering in Padua, Italy.

Hi! My name is Francesco and I’ve been living in Belgium since 2018. I come from a small town in Liguria, in northern Italy, and I am currently finishing a PhD in philosophy. For several years now, I’ve been giving private lessons to people who want to learn Italian for professional reasons or simply for pleasure. I have also taught two courses at an evening school in Flanders: a traditional course focused on grammar and vocabulary, and a conversation course for more advanced students. As an Italian Opera singer, I help since many years singers with the right pronunciation of the repertoire they sing, helping them in shaping the language in a clear way, which also helps the singing.

Our lesson will involve speaking, pronunciation exercises and singing.
We will start the lesson by reading the text and finding the right direction and emphasis.
We will focus on the sounds and how to produce them.

The wonderful Portuguese adventure!

Advantages of learning a new language:

Learning a new language is fun. But what I’m (and you should be) after is not bilingualism but instead biculturalism. We think by aid of words. Therefore language shapes thought. In part this is because working in a second language slows down the thinking. No wonder people feel different when speaking a second language. And no wonder they feel looser, more spontaneous, perhaps more assertive or funnier or blunter.
Studies show that being able to speak another language is generally linked to a more flexible brain, developing the brain’s ability to plan and prioritize. Also it betters our defenses against dementia in old age.

Advantages of learning Portuguese:

• It has been an official language since 1297
• It’s usage is spread over 4 continents (Europe, South America, Africa, Asia)

The pace, duration, frequency and schedule of the classes is totally up to the student to decide. The best case scenario is 1-2x per week depending on both parties availability.

Focus on diverse subjects is possible, for example, grammar, diction, reading comprehension, written production, conversational skills.
In case the student has no specific requests, together we will follow the guidelines of a trusted book (that I myself bring to the class and the student doesn’t need to acquire).

In every class the student will be directly influenced by worldwide Portuguese culture ( music, history, geography).
Periodically we will evaluate how the classes are evolving so as to rapidly and effectively shift focus to where it is needed.

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
